It was a chilly and windy yet lovely event with great marshals and volunteers cheering you on. Very well organised with plenty of free parking. A decent amount of toilets. The course was a combination of running around an old airfield as well as some nearby villages, fairly flat and not too challenging. You don't really get to see the Prestwold Hall that much. It also becomes a bit boring once you are on your second lap. Still an enjoyable race.

Rolling start due to Covid worked pretty well, well marshalled but not the most exciting course around an old airfield, therefore it was also very windy, the final 100m on loose round stones was not pleasant, overall okay but I wont be rushing back

Course pretty uninspiring overall with most (or what seemed like most) around an old airfield.  Some nice bits around some of the villages.

Fairly flat means quite good PB potential, although strong winds on the airfield were pretty hard challenge!

Nice medal, good snacks etc handed out afterwards and t-shirt

Enjoyable race overall.

Very windy on the airfield but a nice half marathon. Good for a training run. Thought the goodies at the end were great.

This is a nice half marathon. It starts in the grounds of Prestwold hall. A good starting point to talk about is there is plenty of parking which is rare in my experience. Toilets are limited so expect big queues. My overall experience was positive. Once leaving the hall your first few miles (and last few as you return) is across tarmac used for track days. So nice and flat but not great viewing. However once leaving the track it’s beautiful countryside. Nothing too difficult and actually really good for beginners.

Pre-race information: Good. Organisation on the day: Good - everything was clear. Parking: Lots of it, a short walk from the start/finish. Toilets: Enough portable toilets so there was only a short queue. Bag drop: Yes, outdoors. Route (surface): Some rural roads, but mostly around the nearby old airfield. Short gravel sections at the start and finish. Route (toughness): Faily easy apart from the wind and cold. Route (interest): Pretty boring. Mostly around a windswept airfield and solar farm. Route (safety): All on closed roads or separated from traffic. Pacers: None. Zoned start: Not as such, but runners called forward by start time so the quicker people were near the front. Staff and marshalls: Great. Medal: Good. Goody bag: Good. Focus on food. T-shirt: Yes, technical t-shirt. Bright green, decent design and fit. Spectators: Hardly any. Entertainment for friends/family: None really.

Prestwold Hall is a beautiful place to start and finish but the race consists of 80-90% around the race track so a very lonely and boring route. Medal and T-Shirt were very good though

I picked this as it was closest to me in a certain time frame as part of training for a marathon. Registration and information from the organisers was easy, and good all the way through. They sent ample emails letting you know about race packs, for you to check your address and what to do if you hadn't received anything On the day the weather was cool and warmed up so compared apparently to last year was much better. Sign posting and direction to parking was good, and the stewards tried to make the most out of parking space for everyone. Maybe a little more sign posting from the car park to the start needed. Toilets there were ample for the amount of people, with usual lines of people but moved quickly. "Race Village" consisted of a burger van, muffin stand, Run Through race number pickup, sports massage and cancer charity stand. Not a lot for anyone that was there to support to do. Start of the race was fine, no huge stampede, and first 100yds was an experience on loose gravel, then off down Prestwold Halls drive out onto the road for a little bit and onto the old airfield for a bit. Eventually out onto country roads and villages for a bit and back onto the airfield. Course itself, there are a few dodgy bits on the airfield and access lane by the field were you will find medium size stones, potholes, and places to twist ankles on if youre not careful. If you like solar panels and an old airfield used for car experience days then this is the course for you. Previous comments about would be better through local villages I would agree, however that costs money and when there are only 1500 entries that soon eats into a budget. Maybe in a few years it can get bigger and this can happen. Final part on the airfield brings you back round the airfield for about 5 miles, only real gripe is when you come off the airfield to go back to the road inside the last mile. Its the same path which people who have already finished go back to their cars, and had no clear marking as to who should have stayed on what side. Finish line was back through the gravel which sapped the energy on your final sprint. Goodies at the end were a finishers medal "all about the bling", t-shirt (would have been nice to have the date on it), banana, water, flapjack and a sachet of peanut butter. Good organisation, great encouragement from marshalls, and volunteers, I enjoyed it enough to possibly do again, and has potential to get better just needs more runners

This race took place on a cold and blustery day , peppered with the odd snow flurry.  Tough running conditions, at least for a relatively new runner like me, this was my 2nd half.  The registration process and organisation was great, very little queuing for parking, race numbers and even toilets (at least compared to other races I have been to.

The course took in some very pretty country roads but the majority was run on the old airfield which isn’t very inspiring unless you are into vast swathes of concrete or fields of solar panels.  The marshalls were all fantastic considering they were being buffeted by wind for 3hours or so.  There was a saxophonist stood at one point that we ran by a few times who was very entertaining.

unusually you didn’t need to put contact or healt details on the reverse of the bib.  If someone had collapsed then potentially a first responder would have no information which is concerning.  The only other negative comment I have is that there was very little for friends and family not running to do and no place for them to shelter.  The race is in the middle of nowhere and the surrounding roads were closed to accommodate the run. My husband sat in the car for 2 and a half hours playing candy crush.

I will probably run this again as it is convenient for me to get to but hopefully the weather will be kinder next time.

The half marathon starts of in the grounds of Prestwold Hall and then out into the surrounding villages, all of which is nice, although approximately half of the race is spend running around an aerodrome, which is repetitive and monotonous. The weather (sleet, brutal wind, rain) didn’t help either. I’d recommend more of the race is in the villages nearby in the future rather than in the aerodrome.

Apart from that the organisation was slick, not too expensive either and plenty of water stations.
