The route is very simple to follow (if you can see the canal, you’re on the course!) but still plenty of marshalls and water stations, so that you don’t feel isolated.
It’s flat, with a couple of short climbs up canal locks. Terrain is mostly good underfoot. Some hard path, some stony path. Latter sections towards Shipley can become boggy in wet weather, as can the first section of the route heading towards Leeds.
All finishers of all distances receive beer, chocolate and a medal, plus as much home-made cake as you can make yourself sick with. 😂 All in all, a great day out and value for money, especially compared to the prices of other marathons.
