I have now done this Half Marathon for the last three years and it remains one of my favourite races. Running in the sun 23C in December is a great feeling and a relief from the British winter. I travelled with 57 other people form Aldridge Running Club with members covering all distances from 10K to the Marathon and all agreed that all of the races were excellent. Registration is easy and we registered on the Thursday after landing which left us a clear day before the race on Saturday. An excellent goody bag with a fantastic technical race tee shirt and race specific wrist band, a few good little freebies inc sports drink, soap, and snacks etc. Now onto race day, The race starts 13.1 miles from the finish at the turnaround point of the out and back marathon and free bus transfer is available at the start. Buses from 0830 for a 20-30 min journey with arrival in plenty of time to have a coffee, toilet stop(s), and to see the first of the marathon runners reach the half way mark before the HM starts at 1030. The run is all either on the paved coastal walking path, or on closed roads as the race heads briefly in land at about 6 miles and then again towards the finish with 2 miles to go. Water stations are about every 2.5 - 3 miles with enough to take a bottle to drink and one to pour over your head to keep cool. The atmosphere is brilliant, the course a delight and lots of marshals and spectators along the way. The finish is a s good as you can get, with crowds cheering you in to receive your excellent medal and access to a well stocked food and drink tent including Erdinger Alkohol Frei and ice-cream! I would recommend this race, it is a nice resort to have a post race vacation, lots of restaurants and the choice, quality and prices are excellent!

The course runs mostly along coastline including a stretch past the airport with aircraft flying over you. I ran the half, the marathon is an out and back, and a 10 and 5k race start as you get closer to the finish. 

 

Well organised, well marshalled, loads of water stations (although coke as the energy drink was a bit odd...) and a great weekend away. Beware, the 'undulating course' can really take it out of you, those hills are quite small, but very plentiful!

Went out to Lanzarote for a bit of a jolly and a run thrown in and there was everything to love about it. The whole weekend was a blast start to finish- lots of people around for the race, a few pre-race events and on the day itself, transport to the start line (for the half marathon), loads of crowd support, water stations were every 2 km and the medals were enormous if that's you're thing. Goody bags were great, although the t-shirt fit left a little to be desired ( mine came up super small and oddly short). My only major criticism would be that the water stations had Coca Cola as a sponsor and as the 'energy' drink. An electrolyte drink would have been far preferable, especially given said coke was flat and warm.

After canceling the marathon 2014, I had the option to do it in 2015 on half price.

But it was not easy to to. I needed the help of a spanish friend.

The race was Ok.

Not Ok. was the sice of the clothes of the women.

And it was impossible to change the T-shirt bevor and after the marathon.

Never the less, I will do it again in 2016.

ok-I'll get the downside out of the way first. The ladies Tshirt was tiny!! Just give an idea when signing up of the sizes as they are lovely tshirts

anyway loved this race, great atmosphere, great fun. Well organised and great scenery and weather! Nicely challenging. Super atmosphere after and food was great. Bag drop was great too.  Definitely be back
