An utterly bonkers event that is 100% unique. Despite being the "UKs toughest 10km" it is open to everyone and people of all abilities take part. The route is tough, 4 times up Box Hill but there is a lot of support from race marshals and members of the public on their NYD walks. Rob the RD (+ wife!) clearly spends a lot of time planning to make sure the event runs smoothly whilst thinking of nice touches to make the day fun and unusual. I have done the event 3 times and will continue into the future. Most people keep on coming back for more. Fancy dress is a must.

7th time of doing this event, 1st being in 2010, One day I'll learn. Totally a bonkers event but what better way to start a New Year. As always well organised, marshalled, support etc. Only minor comment, preferred the previous route of running down the Burford slope on the grass not the track. Thanks Dr Rob for you and your teams efforts over the last 21 years.

The views were great but you start at the bottom of box hill, finishing at the top. this means you have to walk all the way down (around 20 mins or so) to your bag / dry clothes. I ws absolutely freezing by the time i got back to my car. I think in future years they are going to drive your bags up to the top but this should have been something that was considered whilst organsiing the race.

Other than this it was good. a very hilly run and a great way to dust off the Xmas cobwebs to start the NY in a positive (if somewhat frostbitten) fashion

Hungover NYday 10k- what could go wrong? Neglected to be told it’s the “toughest” 10k in England... not good after a hectic NYE I can assure you. Take my advice - take it easy the night before, it lives up to its reputation! Absolutely stunning course, views wonderful. Medal/tee...
Hungover NYday 10k- what could go wrong? Neglected to be told it’s the “toughest” 10k in England... not good after a hectic NYE I can assure you. Take my advice - take it easy the night before, it lives up to its reputation! Absolutely stunning course, views wonderful. Medal/tee/mug/soup/butty at the finish, although sadly they’d ended up running out of tshirts which considering the cost of running is a bit poor. In addition to this, my and my friends petite frames were drowned in the only tees left - XL, which kind of defeats the point of the size being printed on your bib. Boxhill was busy on the day, make sure you arrive in good time, and give Andy the boxhill dude less grief than some were giving him about the parking sitch - runners and members of the public being really rude to him about lack of parking is just out of order. Just organise yourselves and get there in good time. Other than that had a cracking time and free photos were a nice bonus!
