I was rather disappointed in this race.  Being a safari run I would have thought more would be in the safari park,  but felt like only the start and finish were. 

Through the grounds of the hall were lovely, however the forest couple of miles on the pathways were right with little option to overtake, somewhat frustrating. 

There were 2 drinks stations, could have used a third.  It would also have been nice to have a toilet available on course,  10 miles without the option I found stressful suffering with IBD.

The marshals are fantastic and the only real support through the course,  maybe not helped by the rather wet conditions today. 

Fantastic medal,  that really did make it with while!

Personally I wouldn't do again as don't believe it's the safari it could be. Was good to see lots of fancy dress.

As soon as this event was advertised I had to enter!! Only 15mins from home and for early bird price of £8 it was a no-brainer. We had to pay £5 to park but if you brought the family along then for an extra £5 you could take a trip around the safari Park afterwards! Bargain!

Now to the race itself, it was a great course thru private roads past Knowsley Hall then a mile along the main road then back thru the the park again. More undulating than I expected, not massive but took it out of my legs. Loved it from start to finish (well almost, killer hill for last mile or so)

This was the first time Kirkby milers have done this event and boy did they do it well.

Set in Knowsley Safari park amongst stunning countryside this race was always going to be great. The start was a bit narrow but soon opened up when the runners split up. The first mile was virtually all downhill but this soon tricked you for what was soon coming up, not only did hills of various gradient hit you it then came to light that the long downhill you first ran down in that first mile was your final mile and oh god did it bite.

A very cheap race to enter and a decent medal and goody bag. I just hope they do next year so more people get the chance to run this amazing route. Thanks for a great race.

The first time this event has been held, and growing up local to the Safari Park, I HAD to enter this race. It would also be my first ever 10 mile race. I'll admit I was a bit worried about the prospect of running through the lion enclosure, but the course took us through the beautiful parkland of Knowsley hall instead, on paths, with a small section along the East Lancs road. So while there were plenty of sheep to see en route, there were d=sadly no wild animals. However, I was grateful for my safety, and the organisers had given us the option of paying a discounted £5 on entry to the car parl to drive around the safari park after the race. 

Race morning logistics were ideal. The safari park is 2 minutes off the M57, straight into the car park, toilets in the car parl with no queues (Hallelujah!) and plenty more toilets elsewhere too. The start was a 5 minute walk from the cars, but if you really wanted a bag drop there was one closer to the start. 

Just water given out en route at 3 miles and 5.5 miles, plus a great medal and jam packed goody bag at the end.

The course was hillier than anticipated, and although I didn't particularly enjoy the 2 miles uphill at the end, it was certainly a good challenge! Beautiful countryside and a great, friendly atmosphere.

All in all a great first event! Really enjoyed it.

For the fact this is the first year of this race, I simply take my hat off to Kirkby Milers for a wonderful event. 

Based at Knowsley Safari Park this race was only £15 and both my boys paid £5 for the 'Monkey Mile' - we all received a brilliant medal and a bumper goody bag. 

Also included was free photos, free face paint and a huge discount on admission to the drive through Safari experience. (I can't blame the organisers for the baboons). 

The communication before the race was thorough and was on social media plus emails. Any queries were answered quickly.

Arriving early for the kids race, I was pleased to be greeted by the open cafe serving bacon baps & coffee.

The children were well marshalled and felt completely safe. Their medal was brilliant and the goody bag included sweets, popcorn, animal masks and lucozade.

There were plenty of toilets and after a comfort break and brief warm up we were ready to go.

The first 4 or so miles meandered through 'farm' type animals and the grounds of the stately home. A short section on the pavement of the main road was only 'dull' section. But this was only short before we re- entered the park and the well marshalled route ticked away up to 8 miles.

Here the route included a few hills but the brilliant marshals and local clubs kept motivation going.

Ten miles completed to a well supported finish line and brilliant medal and goody bag. (No tshirt but can't be upset with the price & goody bag. )

After the race, the family and I could use the rest of the Safari Park for only £5. Amazing value and a real selling point as we made a family day of it.
