The origional organisation and communication was good, but was dissapointed to find no GPX file for the route (possibly due to it being a new route). The weather was awful which was a shame as we were not able to see how idilic the route could be. I feel like on a clear day it would of been a beautiful route. The route itself was well marked out there were not a massive ammount of marshels but there were enough for what was needed. It was very very dissapointing water/refreshment stations. High 5 gels were easy to grab but water and high five drinks were very difficult. All drinks were in small cups so most of the fluid was lost all over your face, the bins for the drinking stations were maybe 2 meters away from the station, so to actually drink and dispose of your drink you had to stop. It would be better to just provide small bottles of water than cups of water and high 5. The bins need to be atleast 100 meters away from the drinking station. There was only 1 portaloo on the course. This was ok for me as a man i can just stop and wee anywhere but women cant. No finnishers medal is very strange. One girl I ran with was veey upset wity this.

The views are probably the best of all UK half marathons; I've done most of them, and this is my favourite! ... Nothing compares to looking over the Menai Straights to Snowdonia as you run... also, the Menai bridge is spectacular (and a particular perk for any history buffs. The organisers do really well to make the most of a very compact footprint in Menai Bridge. The road make up ( sweeping walled A-road) makes the undulations bearable. There could have been more loos - perhaps at the council offices? - but that is a common issue with almost all outdoor events. The finish area was cute year and I like the slate plate and cup. Ill be back next year - no questions.!

Wow, this is one expensive half marathon! It ended up costing £55! £5 of that was for parking at a school! I would more than a slate coaster and a cup for that kind of money. I pay less for the Chester and Liverpool half marathons and get a nice medal and a really good technical ...

Wow, this is one expensive half marathon! It ended up costing £55! £5 of that was for parking at a school! I would more than a slate coaster and a cup for that kind of money. I pay less for the Chester and Liverpool half marathons and get a nice medal and a really good technical t shirt! The aid stations were poorly run, at some you literally had to stop and pour yourself a drink, obviously not ideal in a half marathon. Thankfully i need not need to use the ones that were poorly run. The scenery was fantastic, but the price definitely needs bringing down for this one!

I was scheduled to do the Half but dropped to the 10k on the day as a chesty cold scuppered my training and I wasn't confident I'd make the cut off time (yes, I'm a slow runner at the best of times!). This was a lovely race. Well organised with good pre event info. The local school provided good parking facilities that helped keep the residential streets getting swamped with visitor cars, and the facilities in the small event village were good. The Half Marathon set off first, followed by the children's race, and then the 10k. All instructions were clear (even a warning about potentially slippery road due to the pre race rain shower) and we set off bang on time. Why didn't I know about the initial hill out of the village! However once that initial bit was over, it was a fairly (but not totally) flat out and back run alongside the picturesque river and hills. My partner did the Half and said the views were even better beyond our 10k turnaround spot. Some really nice local support along the route and a nice welcome back complete with isotonic drinks and freshly sliced oranges. The goody bag contained local crisps (most welcome) and there was a Welsh slate event memento rather than a medal for this event. Recommended!

This was my first half marathon. Runners of all types. The hilly bits are not too bad actually, was a bit scared but by the time I got there, the spirit of the experienced runners lifts you through. Going up round the side of Beaumaris castle was great, and the views are SPECTACULAR. I will be signing up for this again, not to get a faster time, just to enjoy the scenery a bit more. Honestly, I fell in love. (Of note, I am overweight, a bit slow, and my overall time was 2:15 roughly, so if it’s you’re first time and not a “runner-runner” then do it. You will be so pleased by the end).

Registration for the event was straight forward and plenty of communication from the team beforehand. Full credit to the organisers, they faced multiple challenges with the stormy conditions over the weekend. The start position was changed on Saturday afternoon and then a switch to the emergancy course was made on Sunday morning due to a fallen tree. Both well communicated and not the organisers fault. The new route for the day was very hilly, which made it difficult if your not used to running up/down hills. Aside from that, the course gives brilliant views across Snowdonia. An enjoyable event, with plenty on offer at the finish line in terms of drinks and snacks. A good quality tshirt and medal too.

First road half marathon. done a couple of triathlons and trail races but originally picked for its location (always like to go and race in pretty places) and was marketted as flat and fast with pb potential.

with Storm Jorge's arrival it was questionable whether the event would take place. Great efforts by the organisers with a number of last minute route changes - first due to unable to use the bridge as the start, then overnight a fallen tree on the course amongst others meant that we were running the emergency route. Numerous communications went out via email and social media and much discussion was centrered upon the new hills that had been introduced, and what storm jorge would throw at us on route.

back to logistics. two main event car parks were promoted. the leisure centre is the closest but still a walk away. the football club is across the bridge so if you use this one then allow plenty of time to get to the start.

plenty of toilets at race HQ and queues moved quickly. I had received my number in the post so I didnt need to be there for anything else but there was an excited buzz about the place.

the route is lovely and with the sun shining we were blessed with beautiful views of the menai straights and coming back in seeing views of snowdonia.

support on route was plentiful and I was running alone but got plenty of encouragement from everyone roadside. lots of clapping and cheering.

aid stations were well stocked with water, high 5 drink and gels throught the route.

so pleased that the race took place and huge congrats to the organisers for making it happen.

Despite the rain and wind everyone seemed to be having a great time at the event. Id paid for a photo within the package but sadly there didnt seem to be any pictures worth purchasing but thats the only downfall and after travelling from York, id still go back next year :)

Good organisation - starting on Menai Bridge was wonderful - then there was some congestion down under the bridge but soon opened up. Plenty of drinks stations and gels offered from 5k (never seen that before). Lovely course and a few undulations which adds variety. The non closed road section was ok but most is closed roads. I’m sure there would have been more support but the weather reduced that in 2019. Finish area a little slow & cramped but good. Really nice medal & t shirt. I’d recommend it for sure - loved it.

The course wasn’t 10k. It was around 9.5k. This was a big disappointment as, based on my pace, I was smashing my PB but now my official time feels false. No explanation from the organisers despite many people raising the issue. This will put me off taking part again.
