A perfect race if you're in to cross country running; it has everything from hills and mud to water crossings, the marshalls are always very helpful and supportive and it is impossible to go off course. The organisers are always dedicated to making the run as enjoyable and safe for everyone as possible and the medals, in my opinion, are some of the best around. It is worth doing despite how difficult it is and you can even treat yourself to a well deserved pint at the cue club afterwards.     

This is the first time I have done this race but it will be the first of many. Beautiful scenery, tough route, well organised, lots of marshalls and all freindly and supportive. I honestly can't find fault. I would recommend it to any runner that can complete 10k at any speed!

Had a great day completing the Jack and Jill Challenge. What a great event. This is the second time I have run this race.The course is challenging but you tend to forget this due to the beautiful scenery on offer throughout the course. The organisation was faultless from registration through to the marshalls who were so encoraging and safety conscious. I would recommend this event to any runner whatever their ability as the organisers Somer AC make everyone welcome from seasoned club runners to beginners. If you want to run a challenging trail race with bags of character this is the race for you. The medal is awesome as well. I will be back next year and will be recommending to friends. I had heard great things about this race from other members of the running club I'm in but wasn't entirely convinced. That's all changed now & I can't wait to do this race again in 2018. 

Logistically the race was easy to locate, plenty of free car parking with an easy registration process. The pre-race briefing was spot on and the marshalls were fantastic. The course was not straight forward and it was good to see so many marshalls to point you in the right direction, give you tips and heaps of support. The local support was also very good.

The course is predominantly off-road with stream crossings, woodland, rocky paths, fields and the legendary Jack & Jill hill itself! Yes it is the actual hill from the nursery rhyme, the route is very scenic & as I wasn't aiming for a time I just enjoyed running it with friends.

The finishing medal is fantastic quality and there were plenty of locally made cakes, rolls and drinks available to purchase after the race. The carrot cake was awesome. 

Looking forward to returning in 2018, definitely wear trail shoes. One of my friends didn't and was slipping on some of the muddier parts of the course. 

There aren't enough adjectives in the world to describe how much I enjoyed this race today! Everything about it was perfect: supportive -  and sometimes singing - marshals, clearly marked course, friendly water station, copious mud, brilliant scenery, loads of rivers to Wade through and a very unique hill to climb - complete with nursery rhythm markers and a well at the top! 

The runner's safety is the most important thing to Somer AC on the way round, with marshals making sure competitors were aware of steep gradients, animal holes, helping to cross roads and streams and being generally very helpful. 

At the end, we were given a superb medal and goody bag, some of us got our names announced over the PA as we crossed the line and the standard of cakes back at HQ was incredible. 

I can't recommend this race enough! The only suggestions I can think of making, is to have some sweets at the water station and a few more loos for the ladies.
