· 2022 Half Marathon ·

Have now run this half marathon twice. The 2022 course had to be adjusted due to part of the seafront being shut. This meant no running along the beach this year which was a bit of a shame. Other than that, the course was as challenging as you’d expect for the elevation and multi-terrain nature. The event was well organised and the marshals were incredible once again. Really is a lovely event with the most stunning scenery. Definitely a “must do” if you like your trail running. If you’re looking for a fast, flat PB potential road race, then maybe give it a miss 😉.

· 2021 Half Marathon ·

I took part in the Isle of Wight FOR / Needles Half Marathon in 2021. It is a small race with a few hundred runners, but a really amazing course and takes in a range of terrain, from Road, to trail and even running on the beach. The course is undulating / hilly, which certainly makes it tough. Especially out by the Needles. It is a friendly atmosphere and it was a great event after a lack of races in 2020 and the first part of 2021 due to the pandemic. The race is very good value, at £24 or so for non-affiliated runners. It also feels like a real destination event with it being on the Isle of Wight!

What an awesome race! Exceptionally well marked/marshalled course. Beach one minute and high amongst the clouds the next. This race had something for everyone. This must be the best XC half on offer in the UK. Organisation was faultless and the event thoroughly enjoyable.

If you like trails, hills, seascapes, natural beauty and a huge sense of accomplishment, this is the one for you.

As part of the Isle of Wight Festival of Running, this event showcases the Island in all of its natural beauty. You get to see the sea, the famous Needles and Lighthouse, Tennyson Down and so much more.

It’s a really friendly race with a “club run” atmosphere. Lots of encouragement of other runners, lots of fun and laughter and the perfect excuse to visit the aisle of Wight!
