Great race in the lead up to IM AUS . Swim course was clear and well marked with athletes safety well looked after when sea urchants almost stopped the swim. Bike course is flat and fast with just 1 small climb. Run is a loop course with a small mix of hills. On course nutrition and volunteer were good, disappointed with finish recover area as it was a bit disorganised.

Please dont be deterred by the headline. It just so happened that this years event was cold and wet.
Quick review
* Registraton was easy. Very streamlined and the volunteers friendly
* Race pack - this years tshirt in my personal opinon was ugly in regards to colour. Needless to say I dont wear it, I think I donated it to charity.
* Race day -
SWIM - Swim was in bay but it was actually a bit choppy. The water temp was far warmer than being outside of the water, so I was pretty glad to be swimming. Although during the swim with the chop I wanted to get out. Yes I know, bit of a contradiction.
BIKE - wet and windy. Not flat. Pretty much an out and back and it was 2 laps. The course has bitey sections but with the wind on your back in one direction you are flying however heading back into town was a struggle. Still managed to ride well considering the weather.
RUN - beautiful undulating run along the promenade, parks and bay on one side the whole day. Quite a scenic run. Pacing is your friend during the run.
Volunteers were great. Race day support from spectators was fabulous. As you run through the town along the promenade there are people everywhere cheering you on. Despite the weather people were still out in droves cheering us all on.
Do I recommend this race - YES
Geelong is a lovely seaside city, with a great race and weather is good, it is ever more beautiful. It is an honest race with all conditions to be expected.
