Fun event on a tough course. Great marshals and support. The biggest let down was the quality of the roads. The amount and size of potholes was really quite dangerous especially in dappled shade where they were difficult to discern. Hardly any were marked out. I don’t know if organisers could contact the highway authority ahead of the race to mark or repair them but the bike course felt quite unsafe in a number of parts.

My only comment would be the aid stations, water, high 5 and gels are there but would be nice to see some bananas, oranges etc. Ease of tansition and then a great 3 laps run course, with an uphill finish but so well supported it doesn’t make a difference! Would 100% race again!

Reading the race overview on the website I knew that it was going to be a tough course, and it was. That's not to say it wasn't enjoyable - the location is amazing and great for spectators and the marshalling of the course was excellent - clearly letting you know the direction to go and understanding the nature of triathlon and letting you know a corner was clear and you could crack on! plus always a smile.

It is hilly and that hurt a fair bit by the end but the feeling at the end is fantastic.

A really great event.

The race day experience is just brilliant, and almost perfect. Stourhead is the best swim venue out there, the bike is challenging and grinds you down, you need to conserve your energy because you will need it for the 22.5km run

The run is a mixture of road and track, down hill and challenging climbs, it's tough but so rewarding.

The organiser and support staff are incredible, crowds are great and the athletes are very sociable, with everyone looking to support each other.

The only negative is the feed on the bike, having to stop and dismount and fill your own bottles is frustrating, especially if you are in race mode! I would happily pay more on my entry fee to have bottles handed up.

I will be back again in 2018 I just can't stay away! Do it you will love it I can guarantee that

My 3rd time doing this race in the stunning grounds of Stourhead national trust. By no means does this race get easier.

Again the race was fantastic and the team from Immortal sport had done a wonderful job just wish they could sort the weather.

The night before the race it had rain alot so this had cooled the lake but nothing major.

The only grumble I heared was it was a little tight on the racking but most of the athletes had done big name races so were used to this. More space would be better for next year.

The bike route is rolling with 3900 feet of climbing but maintaining speed isnt that easy but again isnt tough to keep a good speed.

The run is great but it just zaps teh energy from you so I will do hill bricks next year. And be prepared to use trail shoes if it rains lots in the days before the tracks can get muddy in the forest.

All in all a great event and a must do next year..no Ironman have left wimbleball after june

I did this race as my first middle distance tri and as a build up to IMUK. It's slightly shorter than a full 70.3 as the bike is 52 miles... but the run is 14 (and there's a 500m uphill run from swim to T1) so it's not far off! I can definitely recommend it as a race- I loved it, and it was extremely well organised, with very friendly marshals and a beautiful setting at NT Stourhead.

The Swim: the lake was beautiful! Water was warm for mid may (well compared to the cold of the north that I'm used to!) - it was a bit stinky and murky- but not that noticeable once moving. The Swim involved two laps and some negotiating round two mini islands in the lake, so the areas round the buoys was a bit cramped on lap 1-though you could hang back if not confident! As I said, there was a 500m (at least!) run uphill to T1 so take spare trainers for this- they let you take your wetsuit off and carry it up which makes things a bit easier!

Bike- undulating rather than hilly- lots of smaller longish climbs but nothing too heart attack worthy! We had a headwind for a lot of the two lap ride- not sure if that's normal as I'm not local. There was a self service drink station at approx 22 and 46 miles- which you had to stop at and refill your bottles. The roads were quiet, decent surface and well marshalled.

Run: 3x 4.5(ish) mile laps- about 2.5 miles on roads which was a bit dull and the rest trail/fields mostly downhill which was great fun- was fine in road shoes though. You come past the finish on each lap, get a wristband and carry on (lots of cheering crowds here!). Two drink stops on the loop- one with water/coke/energy drink and gels/bars and one with just water

the finish: a stunning setting just outside the hall- lots of crowd support here. Got a great tshirt and medal plus water and a banana.

All in all, a great day, can't recommend enough!

My first half, i knew thsi race would be hard we registered the day before which was fine your cars are quite far away from the bike area so quite a walk to the start.  Beautiful lake swim, nice 2 lap course on the bike with marshalls & signs so easy to follow.  The run route was laps, unfortunately a car clipped my arm on the run they got too close to me on a narrow road and couldn't wait, this ruined the day for me, so please have more signs telling drivers about us runners. Great day otherwise.

what an amazing race, this is my second year at the Immortal, I just love the course! The swim is beautiful and both times water temp perfect for early season. Tough uphill run to transition but that is all part of the Immortal Challenge

2 Lap bike (90km total) it has everything, rolling roads and climbs, you will need to focus on pacing so not to leave yourself empty for the run. 1 feed each lap but that is all you should need. Great circuit with good crowd at the lap 2 start point.

Run about 14miles it challenging also, across a field from T2 then onto strait country roads, can be hot and exposed to wind, early pacing is important, then enter the woods into track down hill, up a bit down a bit then up a lot to the lap start/finish 3 laps needed

organisers are great! Lots of fun and support from staff, loved the bean bags at the finish, great TShirt and brilliant heavy medal as your reward! Nicky set up finish zone with plenty of refreshment options! I will be back in 2017 for the 3rd time!

Thanks Guys, Just Brilliant 5 stars from me
