Stampede Sports are a small events company who have a handful of events running from the pub in Hullavington. 

This year the course was unfortunately shortened to just less than 8 miles because of overrunning roadworks which was out of the control of the organisers. Because of covid, there also couldn't be any secret Santa gifts at the finish line like last year but there was cake (wrapped for covid) and all runners love cake!

We were sent off in waves of roughly 5 people after we'd all had our temperature checked. This meant that I ran alone for the majority of the race but was overtaken by lots of faster runners which gave me boosts of speed every now and again.

The weather was lovely, the Wiltshire countryside was beautiful as usual and all the marshals were very friendly and enthusiastic. 

I'm so glad this event was able to happen after all the recent lockdowns and Christmas announcements. Let's hope it can get back to it's usual format next year as I'll definitely be back. 

The Hullavington 'Secret Santa' 10 was a low key, low profile event run by a local event organizer. The race was a sell-out in 2019 so a full field of 200 runners lined up for the race.

The organisers had kept everyone updated on the Facebook event page beforehand with parking and pre-race info and the registration process was fairly straightforward, although nothing special.

The race-briefing was done just before the start and with some humor which was good. The route was through the spectacular and fairly quiet Wiltshire countryside, following a more undulating route through the lanes than I was expecting.

The marshal support was great and the water stops in convenient locations. The 'lucky-dip' at the end was a nice touch, but given the entry cost, I feel a better medal (for all runners, not just a few) would have been good. 

If you're looking for a low-key event run without any of the fuss and mayhem of a larger event, this is it.

Wonderful race to run at Christmastime - this was a great event - good race base, so friendly, lots of familar faces and very well supported.  Picturesque route, encouraging marshalls wherever needed - every festive detail thought of down to excellent home made cakes, coffee and the prize was within a hand crocheted card!  That was such a lovely surprise and appreciated.  Running weekend plans for 2020...... this one is the perfect runners Christmas treat especially being a 10 miler - well done to all organisers and marshalls.

Well organised and suitably priced. A good field of runners. Marshalls were great and the course was well signposted. Start and finish at the pub so good for spectator and participant refreshment. Free cake for runners and a Santa treat for all instead of a medal (I liked this as it's a nice change from receiving a medal). No allocated parking so this was a free for all to find a space in the village but this was not a problem. Registration and number collection easy and straight forward. Good range of prizes. Chip timing was a nice touch. It's not flat but it's not hilly, described as undulating and for a nice change this is a fair description. I would do this race again as an enjoyable, sociable, very well organised race to close the end of a racing year, but if you want to run hard and get a pb this may not be the race for you.

A very well organised, friendly race. The course is gently undulating around quiet country lanes. One minute you are running through beautiful villages, the next minute you are running over a motorway bridge, very unique!. A great race to finish the year, especially for those targetting a Spring Half Marathon. Another great Stampede Sports event. See you next year

A really well organised event timed just right to have one last blow out before heading to the pub situated on the finish line to enjoy a little Xmas social. The gift bag at the end was full of great prizes many of which were equal value to the race entry! The course was enjoyable with a little undulation, not a PB course but then that close to Xmas and with the pub calling you it's much more about the atmosphere than your result. I would happily recommend this race and definitely do it again.
