I last ran this event in 2015 and I believe the route changed slightly in the 2019 race. Billed as flat and fast, there are certainly no hills but sloped areas around the Hull marina can be quite challenging when you're hanging out! The race starts near the lovely Queens Gardens, out of the centre and into a nice housed area, before going onto the waterfront (river Humber) along to the marina, passing the impressive The Deep aquarium en route. Back into the city and past Trinity Church - this is where the last 2km or so become twisty and turny, with lots of corners and u-turns mid street, no doubt to make up the distance. The finish is at the same point as the start and the move through the medal/goody bag area is slick, where you then find refreshment stalls, including alcohol free beer. All in all a good run, well organised with no obvious choke points. As with all 10k events it seems, people overestimating their ability, or perhaps just wanting to be near the start line to see the local celebrities, hamper the start but there's plenty of room to get past these in the first few hundred metres. Looking forward to 2020!

Part of the Jane Tomlinson/Run For All race series, Hull 10k is another city centre 10k.
The orgainsation is what you'd expect from an RFA event, emails sent often, numbers sent in enough time, and if (like me) you did'get get a number posted, you could pick it up easily enough on the day.
Arrival was fine, with plenty of cheap parking (Princes Quay was suggested and only cost £1!).
Baggage storage was available, and bags were held by race number.
The start itself had no "pens" per se, just rankings of estimated finish time, in 5 minute increments, getting into the right place wasn't an issue. It's a late start for Hull 10k as it also ran alongside the Hull Half Marathon, our gun time was 9:45!
The run itself, isn't amazing, it featured lots of switchbacks, and running passed houses, which is great for support, bad for #scenes. It it however a flat course, but due to the amount of switchbacks, maybe not as fast as it could be.
The medics were great, as due to the heat there were bodies everywhere, it was like The Somme, something that the event organisers can't control.
6(.2) miles later and it's into the finish, nothing special here, well controlled and traffic people kept flowwing all the way to the Erdinger Beer Tent.
Goodies were a T-Shirt, medal and assorted sponsers goods (ASDA at time of writing).
Overall, just what I'd expect from RFA, and will return.
