We are super excited to bring you this new running event for 2021! Something different and fun...
HOURGLASS is a last person standing, winner takes all, event. There will be a prize for the last remaining male and female runners plus 2nd & 3rd place.
The concept: you will run 2 mile laps of a flat-ish course in and around the Royal Cornwall Events centre.
You will start with 30 minutes on the clock and in this time you will complete lap 1. Each consecutive lap will reduce by 1 minute, so you'll have 29 minutes to complete the next lap and so on. If you don't manage to finish a lap within the allocated time you will be eliminated from the race.
If you can get down to 18 minutes for a lap (9 minute mile pace) - you will have completed 13 laps - which is a marathon! Dare to go longer and you'll be in ultra territory!!
This type of event is all about pacing and strategy. Do you smash the early laps and have a rest before the next one begins? Or do you take it easy and just keep the legs fresh for the later laps? Do you walk/run the first few and mix it up? The choice is yours. But remember; time's running out.
The route will consist of a mixture of tarmac and grass and will contain twists and turns to negotiate. We're hoping for dry conditions but we'll give you a heads up nearer the time as to what type of shoe we think will work best.
There will be food and beverages on site for you and your supporters to purchase. We'll have use of one of the onsite halls with toilets and showers. There will also be the opportunity to have a massage, either pre, during or post event.
Everyone will receive a bespoke medal. Event T-shirts and hoodies are available to pre-order now via the event entry page for collection at the event. A small number will be available to purchase on the day.
