Outstanding swimrun race. Do not be fooled by the distance, this is challenging day out with big sea swims and utterly beautiful coastal trails. The organisation was spot on as was the atmosphere. Highly recommend.

The short course Hokey Cokey is an excellent introduction to Swim/Running. Although apprehensive about the sea swims, there is very good support in the water. Indeed the marshalls and volunteers were first rate. My advice to anyone doing this for the first time is go for it but make sure you pace yourself, as the runs involve quite a bit of climbing, particularly the 5k section. I would defintely recommend this event, as on completion, there is a real sense of achievement.

Great event really well organised and marshalled.

The event is not necessarily for the novice as the distances on the swims often with extended time with out site of exit point or continuous water safety support.  However the event provides just the right level of safty and signage of the route for more experiecned competitors.

The vibe around the event is also really good.  Fuel stations, event site and after race food provided was all above expectations.

I will definitely be doing this event and other Mad Hatter events again in the future.

Well run and organised and a great collection of volunteers. The registration was very simple, Mad Hatters had volunteers to send us to the right location.

The start ended up a bit congested due to the necessary change of route and the need to get down a narrow set of steps to the beach, but access to the flat sea was then easy. Enjoyed the swims although the 2nd swim wasn't easy to sight the landing point - it was a lot easier on the return journey as the stack outside Charlestown was easier to sight on.

The runs were as expected - mostly hilly and very steeply hilly. Again volunteers pointing us all in the right direction.

Thoroughly enjoyable competition but a big challenge for all ages.

Great atmosphere in the village and nicely located for a pint and some food after :)
See you next summer!

This is a great little race organised by a great team - the Mad Hatters are really nice guys: completely inclusive - everyone gets the same friendly welcome, the same cheers and big Hi Five on crossing the line .  I've done the race for the past 3 years and will keep coming back.  Charlestown where it is based is a super place for the family to enjoy themselves while you are racing and stay for a short break.

This was my first SwimRun and I absolutely loved it. Excellently organised, very friendly competitors and just a challenging but fun event. There was definitely a feeling of "we are in this together" which was great and made you relaxed. Yes people may have had their own target times etc but no-one minded waiting to get up some steps, through a gate, over a stile etc. Charlestown is beautiful with clear seas and the coastal paths are just amazing (if steep). I had a great day and can't wait to come back and try the long course next year. I really liked the fact it was a small, friendly event. John was especially patient with my 101 emails about what I should wear, carry, take (!). Thank you John! And thanks Mad Hatter Sports for a brilliant event.

Amazing event - really well organised and a really good atmosphere. Loads or marshals to keep you on the right track and local support was brilliant.
