Thank you to the organisers for a well marked race in the very cute village of Hoby. Baked goods afterwards in the village hall were AMAZING and real homely touch to this race. Thank you to the volunteers waymarking the course and clappers during storm Amy!! I enjoyed this race a lot due to navigating the terrain, running mostly solo and battling the winds on the fields, meaning you were going slower but with more meaningful paces. There were only two bottlenecks at the start of the race due to styles after 5 mins, but after then it was spread out. Really impressed with the online timing at the end of the race in the van - you could see where you finished straight away! I'm not sure of the online advertising on socials that went out prior to the race, more people could certainly enjoy the delights of ploughed field / styles / grass / large expanses! The village hall could have been better signposted once you had finished as I had no idea where I was in relation to the church and did not know Hoby very well. Other than this, really enjoyed it and thanks again :)

Thanks Kelly, putting this year races on was a real achievement given all of the things that happened in the run up to the event, all of our cakes are home made. Most of our volunteers have been with us since the start and know the course back to front. Storm Amy did play a part in our marshal placement this year to help protect and maintain on course safety for all. The course is one that can catch people out as some under estimate the route, the wind over the top of Sun hill can be quite strong on a windy day as there is nothing to block it. due to the course being a traditional style trail/cross country there are occasional situations where there could be hold ups due to stiles or other natural features which are a key part of traditional cross country running. Since 2021 we have been working on a project that will complete next year which will set new rules regarding race start formats to avoid hold ups that can impact adversely a runners ability to compete. We recently changed our timing team after many years with the same timekeepers due to the need for modernisation, quality and speed of results. We completely agree and have been working on our social media output, keep watching this space as the final improvements to our social media page will be completed over the winter along with final stages of a big tidy up that been happening since early 2024. ill speak to our finish line team and arrange for sign posting for next year. We hope to see you again on the start line for our 10th birthday event next year.

thanks Kristina, a lot of work went into this year event, more so than normal given both the events that took place earlier in the year and in the run up to race day. Most of our marshals have been with us since the event started and our cakes are all home made. So glad you enjoyed it and can't wait to see you back on the start line next year.

First time running, canicross start was excellent (though don't try to do any briefing on the line, the dogs prevent anything but deafness 馃檳). Storm Amy definitely added to the atmosphere 馃槺, but the dogs loved it and I loved finishing because that was some epic tea and cakes!

2nd time doing this event as a Canicross participant. Really enjoyed it. The course was ran on ploughed fields so you definitely feel it but it all adds to the fun of cross country running. The marshalls were fantastic and all info received was great. My only thought would be recording the race briefing and send it ou beforehand, as it couldn't be heard over the excitement of thee dogs. We had a great time and will be back next year.

thanks Lorna, our marshals do a Fab job and this year especially given the near hurricane force gusts over the top of the course they put on an epic performance in weather we've not had in the 9 years the race has been going, ill see if we can put something together for next year race briefing wise, as do think doing an online race briefing could be productive..

The Hoby Hop is a wonderful cross-country race with a fantastic atmosphere in a scenic Leicestershire village. The challenging, hilly course takes runners through fields, offering rewarding views from the top before a long downhill sprint to the finish. The race is professionally chip-timed with quick results. The event has a friendly and relaxed vibe, and the delicious cakes available in the village hall afterward are not to be missed!

Hi Anthony, thank you, we put a lot of effort into the event and this starts in November, our entries do vary each year, unfortunately we can't do anything about stiles there a part of the course and to be honest we quite like it, as its a throw back to the days of proper cross county racing.

Friendly atmosphere, feels like a real community event.

Hi Jenny, was great to see you back on the course again this year, even with storm Amy 60mph+ winds. our team were very nervous going into race day not only due to the weather, but also the run up to the event, however once everyone set off we all took a deep breath and relaxed at bit. We have always focused on creating a friendly race, that open to anyone and involves the local community. hope to see you again next year.

Very well organised event, my first time running it and with the weather conditions, the course was well sign posted (which I believe had to be done twice) and marshalled.

Hi Melissa, thank you our team put a lot of effort in ahead of every race, this year especially given circumstances and the weather on race day its self, made the event coming together in the way it did very much a relief to everyone who did such a fantastic job in front and behind the scenes, and yes the course got blown away overnight so had to rebuild it at 6am in the morning.

HI Andy, thanks for that, we are lucky to have such routes on our door step that we can use, even more so have the views that we do from the top of the course which on a clear day you can see for miles. yes all of our cakes are home made mainly by our refreshments team and others. we always try to keep the entry prices as low as possible. Hope to see you again at next year race.

This is a cracking low key local event which allows cannicross and having a separate start and going out first was amazing meaning we could spread out and not get in anyone's way. It was very relaxed and the marshalls and event staff were very encouraging of the canine athletes. There were even treats for them at the end! We had a great morning out. I have marked 4 stars for congestion as there are stiles, but I don't think that spoilt the race as they were fun to get over and allowed a breather!!

Hi Jennifer, thank you so much for that, Unfortunately we can't do anything about the stiles. we are one of the most chilled out races going, all of our marshals have been with us for many years, we also have a number of new marshals this year. were hopefully getting more new team members next year as well. Hope to see you on the start line again next year.
