A stunning setting, both Hever and Chiddingstone castle featured in the route. A challenging and enjoyable trail run with countryside, woods and castles. Some narrow and uneven sections but that's all part of the off road experience. Very well organised, check in a breeze, plen...

A stunning setting, both Hever and Chiddingstone castle featured in the route. A challenging and enjoyable trail run with countryside, woods and castles. Some narrow and uneven sections but that's all part of the off road experience. Very well organised, check in a breeze, plenty of aid stations, marshalls, route markers and support. Part of a bigger event with triathlons, duathalons and other running events which added to the atmosphere. Pricewise it was above average, but with the premium for the setting and whole experience.

Great atmosphere all around! Beautiful 4-lap-course, quite hilly and demanding (but nowhere near a trail event). Excellent feed stations and post-race snacks.

This was my first Marathon and I think it will be hard to beat. With lots of concurrent events you got all the perks of a big race with stations, marshals, excellent signage, band and buzzy event area as well loads of helpful staff to get you in the right place...but there were just a handful of people taking part in my event making it a very intimate and friendly. The course was picturesque and varied, most was navigable but a few places quite rutted and narrow for overtaking. I would like to make a special mention of ladies marshaling point 17 (I think). They were dancing and cheering, even when the course was busy on every lap and Marshall 22 was outstanding keeping up personalised encouragement for the full 4 hours I was on the course and probably beyond. It was also a nice personal touch to be set off by the race director. Thank you Castle races.

This running event has to be the most organised event I've ever done. And really friendly welcoming crew at all stages of the event. The course is twice round a 10.5km route. A fair few hills, mostly off road through fields and woodland, villages, farms and the gorgeous Hever Cas...

This running event has to be the most organised event I've ever done. And really friendly welcoming crew at all stages of the event. The course is twice round a 10.5km route. A fair few hills, mostly off road through fields and woodland, villages, farms and the gorgeous Hever Castle estate. It's a scenic run. Two laps helps with pacing, and a good supply of drink and energy treats around the course. Really enjoyable.

Considering how many events are going off on the day using some of the same course, the logistics are impressive - I was never left unsure of where I was supposed to be. The start/finish village is buzzy. The course is challenging without being brutal, and very picturesque. Big p...

Considering how many events are going off on the day using some of the same course, the logistics are impressive - I was never left unsure of where I was supposed to be. The start/finish village is buzzy. The course is challenging without being brutal, and very picturesque. Big potential for rolled ankles along some fairly bobbly dried mud paths, so my advice is wear supportive trail shoes and tread carefully. My only gripe but it's a big one (unique to me, I hope) was the marshall at the left turn out of the forest onto the road to Chiddingstone, issued the 'turn left' instruction I'm sure for the thousandth time that day, but failed to alert me to the approaching car I nearly darted in front of. Had I been 2secs slower it could've been nasty. Maybe just one lapse, but the marshalls at road/course intersections need to be on it 100%. Aside from that, job well done.

Just a fantastic event all round. The marathon is unusual, being 4x round. 10.5km loop. It's a challenging route with over 650m of total ascent. I absolutely loved it. The scenery was stunning and the whole vibe and support superb. Will be back!
