This is probably 95% running in trails, including dirt tracks, woodland tracks, gravel, grass, pathways, byways and is extremely undulating. It is a lovely place to run though, each section is very different to the last and keeps it very interesting. I ran the half marathon which had approx 740ft of elevation. There was no mile/km markers at all which may be off putting for some. It’s a lapped course so for the half marathon was two laps which I didn’t mind and enjoyed the second lap much more than the first. It means you run directly through the event finish at the half way point The first lap was very congested at the start No local support. Excellent aid stations full of water and many different foods. I think there was sports drink as well Not enough toilets! Good medal, different but good I’m not sure I’d run it again, it was a lovely place to run but I think once you’ve done it, you’ve done it and will be less interesting!

Tough and challenging course but with some beautiful sections on the South Downs and ashdown Forrest. My 1st 50 miler and so difficult to compare and really enjoyed the day. Marshalls and feed stations were great and nice atmosphere in event village. Navigation (signs and gpx) need some tweaks but managed to make it through without getting lost but I had run some sections in advance.

Great views of the South Downs and East Sussex with a variation of terrain, some of the lumpy corn fields were particularly challenging. Friendly, helpful marshals and medics with well stocked aid stations. Not the best marked route and could be easy to go the wrong may multiple times, the GPX file also wasn't entirely accurate to the route at times. No photographer on the trails, just got 3 images near the end which all look basically the same. Overall an enjoyable trail and ideal for beginners looking to give their first 50 miler a go with a generous cut off!

It was my first running race in UK. Due to the very good organisation and preparation I enjoyed the sport event. The different surfaces of the track were sometimes a bit tricky but all in all I liked the variation. Very nice event!

This was my first half marathon. The trail is beautiful and the hills make it more fun to run. That said, I had to keep watching my feet most of the time because of the uneven ground and just to find the line with the most solid surface through mud and high grass. I wish I could have spent more time looking at the surroundings. The directions were well signposted and most places where one could go wrong there was also a marshall pointing to the right direction. Thankfully there was no rain during my race, that could have made it a much worse experience, but that risk is the price of being in nature. The bottleneck right after the start was a bad experience, most of us had to walk for some time and overtaking was difficult for maybe the first km. We were supposed to sort ourselves at the start, but with such a narrowing in the path so early, it does not help much. The feed stations were well stacked and there were enough of them, the marshalls were very supportive and cheerful. One small point is that having a coloured electrolyte drink would make it easier/quicker to distinguish from water. Another point about water is that before the start it was difficult to get drinking water. As someone who stayed at the camping the previous night and ran out of drinking water, it was a bit of a problem. Overall the race was a surprisingly delightful experience, I felt well supported and I am glad I participated.

Getting there for start time is rough and one of the hardest parts but the marshalls, staff and public were amazing. Note: Don't attempt this if you worked the day before or if you didn't sleep all that well... :D

I had a great day running the 50 mile ultra. There were plenty of very well stocked feed stations and all the volunteers were so friendly and encouraging - filling bottles so we didn’t have to. My only negative regarding the feed stations was the lack of vegan sandwich options. There was only a few jam and they were only in the first couple of aid stations. By the time I got to the last two, when I was hungry, they only had non vegan options. Other than that the gels, cubes, flapjacks and hydration tablets were not scrimped on at all and when I run it again I will definitely feel confident I’ll be well looked after. The terrain was undulating and a mix of trail and road, making it a really runnable route - but the gpx file was out for the majority of the run. However, I found the signage to be pretty good throughout and didn’t get lost once. There were public loos en route by aid stations that could be made use of, but no loo at the start sadly. As it’s a very early start the use of a loo pre race would have been very appreciated (that being said our minibus did stop at McDonald’s on the way so us on the bus were catered for!) I wish I hadn’t bought the race photos before the event as I didn’t see a single photographer in nearly 11 hours of running until I got to less than a k from the finish. And no photographer for the podium which I’m really sad about as I had no spectators there to take one for me. Overall I really really enjoyed this race and will definitely return to do it again. Definite value for money and I felt really looked after all the way round.

The 50miler was a well ran race. The GTX file was a little off almost constantly throughout and there were a couple navigation bits that could’ve been clearer marked. Aid stations and staff were all brilliant - biggest complaint would be paying for photography, but not seeing a photographer until 700m from the finish - there wasn’t even one for the podium photos which was disappointing. My second CRS event and I’d certainly do another.
