Couldn't have asked for better. The swim is well marked with large buoys , big visible exits for easy sighting and the water safety team were great. I felt very well looked after. Be prepared to not be able to see anything under the surface though! It's a shallow muddy lake, and gets churned up quickly with swimmers going through all day long. The run was 2 laps with a challenging hill on both. Good weather meant road shoes were fine. I'd 100% pick trail shoes if it was a wet course or had bad weather leading up to it. Event village was amazing - atmosphere was amazing - bring money for food, the paella was incredible! Loved the live music and the host on the mic too. Great event team, easy parking and registration. All communication was clear. Thanks everyone!

I signed up a day before the event, and everything went smoothly, demonstrating how well organised it is. The video that was sent prior to the event was helpful and accurate. No hassle to get in and out of the car park. The staff on the day were super helpful. There was enough time to get changed and set up in the transition area before being called for the race briefing. It’s my first aquathlon, and really enjoyed the course and surrounding countryside. I hope to be trying again next year for a better time. Thanks

First things first, the early decision to cancel the swim was most important, can’t take any chances there so support that. But the same comms were quick to rule out any kind of discounts or refunds which I felt was a bit off given it was cutting the event in half. Taking the initial cost, tri licence and spectator fee I’ve essentially paid £68 for a 10k. The tri licence is a bit galling given this wasn’t a multi activity event for the aquathoners and others. Most disappointing was the car parking though, it was ridiculous to let us use that field. Like many others we got stuck and I was worrying about that throughout the run, taking away my enjoyment of the event. Luckily there were a few tractors and I’m grateful for the lads getting me out so quickly but really it shouldn’t have got to that situation. I think unless they offer reduced rates for next year I won’t be stressing myself with this series again.

Sarah, We did notify those by email as well as updates on our website. I am sorry you rated this event so poorly but we made these decisions for the safety for our athletes and also to allow those to have enough time to enter the car park. - Castle Race Series
