This race is a challenge. The hills are hell but the scenery is beautiful. Definitely not a PB course. The event is run extremely well, the Marshall's are outstanding. Great to receive a reusable cup for the water stations. On crossing the finish line you get water, a protein bar, the timing chip cut off your shoe, a great wooden medal and tshirt. Yes it was hot and hell but it was a great event. Roll on 2022.

Really lovely morning out - great atmosphere from start to finish. Relaxed and easy registration, amazing weather helped the atmosphere to feel like a fun morning out with a run in the middle! Commentary good fun and continuous - kept us entertained, easy to collect your number, T-Shirt and all important disposable cup. Easy CV19 safe start - didn't matter which wave you were in - and very open start meant you could relax into your pace and focus on the run. Beautiful scenery and wonderful downhill after 6km - made the up hill all worth while! Well sign posted, lovely finish in the stadium - added to sense of ocassion and good fun to watch the half marathoners finish whilst recovering in the glorious sunshine. Great event highly recommended. x

An amazing event! Not a Pb course by any stretch but if you fancy a challenge and the realisation how unfit you really are this is the one.
Registration was simple and the bloke talking was extremely good. Course was clear with Marshall's all all points cheering you on.
Heads up take the water where you can get it 😂

Let’s get a couple of things clear: this isn’t called the Hell Fire race for nothing; and it IS one of the best-organised races around. I’d almost be inclined to call it THE best!
This was my third time of running the race but the first after Covid had struck – and the Handy Cross Runners behind this event once again got it all totally right.
Although they didn’t have the usual full access to the car park at Wycombe Wanderers Football Club they did still have parking for all, ably marshalled.
The pick up of numbers, handing out a collapsible cup to collect water from the aid stations on the course and giving you your race shirt was done on a one-way system which was manned admirably.
A staged start in waves of around 30 people gave social distancing (the day before it was lifted) and probably helped a lot of runners feel a bit better on their return to racing.
The race takes in tarmac, trails, fields and… hills! It’s not easy but it is very satisfying with some amazing views over the Chilterns. Soak it in…
For the 10k it’s the same water station at around 3k and then 7k on the way back, well manned so there was no hanging around as you held up your free foldable (and reusable) cup.
Now here there has to be special praise for ALL the volunteers who, as always, did a fantastic job, but even more so in what were soaring temperatures.
There were plenty of medical people at relevant points (start, end and on the hills) and let’s hear a monster cheer for all of those marshals not only pointing the way but also giving out words of encouragement… and especially the lady at the entrance-exit from the main road to the field. I can’t believe how happy, smiley, chatty and encouraging she was at the start and the finish!
Last time a couple of the locals sprayed us down with water hoses... just one man this time but he gets my full praise for ensuring I did make it over the last heat-sapping 1k. Give the man his own medal!
This is one of the best-value races around but I just hope that if I am lucky enough to go again someone can organise a lower temperature!

A great event with a challenging course! Running through the West Wycombe estate and enjoying the views of the Chilterns definitely makes up for the steep hills - as do the long descents. Certainly not a PB course, but one to challenge yourself with. Marshalls were lovely and very encouraging, plus all the other little touches by the organisers were much appreciated (the signs in the woods for example!). No bag drop for the 2021 race because of COVID which was a minor inconvenience but understandable. Personally wasn't a fan of the reusable collapsible cup for water - it's not something I'm likely to use again and having to stop to fill it at the water stations wasn't ideal but I appreciate the race organisers efforts to try and be environmentally friendly. Overall a very enjoyable experience and I'm very likely to come again

This was my first ever race, so I have no comparisons to other years or events as a runner. The views were beautiful but definitely not a fast course for a first-timer. The marshals were enthusiastic, though not many locals were around (maybe to do with the heat on the day and the pandemic). There was no real race village this year, just a couple of stands due to COVID-19 restrictions, though I will do this again in the future to see how it is when circumstances are different.

Do not underestimate the hills and the views, both utterly stunning but it's certainly not a flat course. Really well organised and supported with plenty of water stations and a tasty protein bar at the finish
