Very muddy conditions but nonetheless hugely enjoyable. The organisers did a great job given the circumstances, the marshalls were even better - plenty of them and they were careful to warn of the (many) muddy patches. I would definitely consider doing this again, when I could see through the rain the countryside was lovely. It would have been nice to get the race briefing earlier but this is minor and could have been due to the anticipated weather conditions.

Weather was windy, wet, sleet and so muddy!! The mud between mile 10 and 12 was insane, no one could run walking only. Shame as it was pretty good up to then. It was the Marshall's that made this run, fantastic and lovely people. Sadly the medal was a coaster. ...

It was the Marshall's that made this run, fantastic and lovely people.

Sadly the medal was a coaster. A lovely coaster but I am a fan of a nice medal.

A good race to tick off the list. A bit unique in as it was more of a trail run half. The conditions on the day were awful. The winds were so strong, even blowing the portaloos over with people in them. With the course going through and under a lot of trees the organisers could have easily called it off but decided to carry on. Luckily the weather did get better (for a while) so the right decision was made. Although set in a lovely area, the course did switch back on itself a number of times and the last section through a housing estate felt a bit odd. That being said, a few very muddy sections off road did make for a challenging course. Also I liked the unique water stations with the biodegradable water capsules. They worked well once you got used to them. Wasn’t to keen on the bling. No medal but a slate coaster. I know they are trying to be environmentally but would have preferred a medal to a t-shirt. Overall a good race but not necessarily one at the top of the list for next year.

Awful day for the race, and a lot thought that the event would be cancelled due to the high winds even blowing over some portaloo's with people inside! The event director opened his briefing with "we are not cancelling" followed by making us aware that it was pretty dangerous ...

Awful day for the race, and a lot thought that the event would be cancelled due to the high winds even blowing over some portaloo's with people inside! The event director opened his briefing with "we are not cancelling" followed by making us aware that it was pretty dangerous out on course, which brought in the nerves! The course was described before hand as "challenging with mixed terrain" although I think mixed terrain should be described as "trail". There were a lot of sections of fields and mud which were really hard to run on. That being said it was a fun small event which was scenic and interesting. I hope it continues next year, and a few lessons learned for next year such as better marking at the start of the race. Would possibly enter again in the future as there is promise of this being a really good event.
