I thoroughly enjoyed the Guildford Triathlon (my 2nd Triathlon) – thank you for an excellent event.
Everything was well organised and I particularly liked getting my times immediately after the finish.
The only minor negative for me was the congestion around the bikes coming in/out of transition, although this was in the “dead zone” (I think) so shouldn’t affect our times. Also, in my first tri (Lytham St Annes) there was quite a long way to push your bike and I had been doing a lot of practice to improve this – but it wasn’t required at all in Guildford.
On a personal note, I must try to pace myself better so I can improve my run time next time!

This was my first triathlon and I'll definitely be back for more! It was brilliantly organised, the marshalls were very friendly and supportive, and the bonus of getting a free sports massage at the end was very much appreciated. The only thing I'd say is that the entrance to the pool wasn't clear, and a few of us nearly missed our start time because we went in the wrong door! Otherwise, everything was really clearly marked and overall it was an enjoyable first event.

Can't knock the quality of the 50m pool, scenic cycle and country run for helping to create an enjoyable event.  Everyone I came into contact with from the event team to the volunteers was cheery and helpful.  I also took advantage of a quick message after and impressed with quality of the service.

If I was being picky, some detail elements that might just help for future events.

- I came back this year to try and beat my time from last year, so a little dissapointing that the run course changed and so not possible to do for the overall event.

- Last year there was a drinks station leaving T2 which would have been useful on such as hot day.  If it stays as two laps next year, can we have a drinks station at the end of lap 1?

- I know there were great plans for the pool times, but unfortunately didn't work.  I like the idea someone else mentioned about taking the swim to 400m and having two swimming snakes to get everyone off earlier.  Number the competitors in swim race order to help them get in the right place.

- The circa 30 minute delay in start meant there was a lot more traffic on the road and led to me being stuck behind slow moving cars that couldn't over take other cyclists.

- Can we have a bin near where the start of the swimming is to put in last minute rubbish - water bottles, gel wrappers etc.

Hopefully be back next year!

This was my first triathlon, and the friendliness of the marshalls throughout put me at ease. The pre-race information was great, including the video online showing where each stage would be. Swim queue was a bit disorganised, people had started queueing well before their designated start time, meaning estimated swim times were a bit out of order, but the snaked swim worked well. Cycle was a nice route although roads were slightly busier than expected after the later start time. Run was hilly and uneven but had nice views. Was disappointed that they ran out of medals - those of us at the back probably needed them most! But race director was apologetic and will send in the post. Overall I was very impressed with the event and would come again! 

Second time doing this race and I have to say there was an improvement from last year. Didn’t think this was possible as it was really good last year. Marshals on bike and run course were fantastic as usual, very encouraging. Swim part could’ve been organised better but overall a well organised race with a friendly atmosphere. Will be back next year!

I have done this race a couple of times before and really enjoy the race. Previously, in 2017 it was lane swimming and there were problems with people trying to exit the pool. This year however, was a snake swim, which would have been better, but due to the delay in starting the swim, quite a number of people with a faster swim time, were not prepared to wait or let slower swimmers in the queue before them! May I suggest that you have a 400m swim, which would enable 2 snake swims to run at the same time, both starting from the middle of the pool. Also, if the competitors had their numbers on their hand, it would be easier to regulate swimmers in order of speed (should there be another delay). Only a suggestion ..... there were quite a few disgruntled triathletes, waiting by the side of the pool.
