It took over one hour to drive just under 2 miles to the start line. We therefore started the marathon late and we're prevented from doing the second lap of the park at the start. So the marathon felt ruined before we'd barely banked the first mile. Waste of time and money. There is no point trying to grow the race before the logistics of getting there are improved. Limit on site parking and require people to get shuttle buses into the park, for example? The pre event information warned there would be traffic getting onto the site but that cannot prepare you for a 2 mile drive taking over an hour, and I did not expect that to mean that we would, in effect, be prevented by marshalls from actually running the marathon course by preventing us from taking the second lap in the park at the start. From reading other reviews it seems traffic into the park is a yearly problem so why are there two laps in the park at the start with all the potential for clashes with road reopening times and the start time of the half marathon and 10km, as happened today. Couldn't the half way turn around point be placed a bit further out on the coastal path instead? At least then, even if I'd have missed starting with the other runners, I'd have actually been able to the race I'd trained so hard for and paid and travelled to do.

I think this race experience very much depends on the weather conditions which of course can be accentuated by being by the coast. Yesterday was a race of all seasons, I was cold and wet for the first half and then wind swept with sun burn at the finish! Logistics getting into the park were challenging with a lot of congestion, perhaps that could be better organised and the barriers left up. Volunteers and marshals were great and the finish area was good. Lots of goodies as well as the medal. Wood yes but nicely decorated.

Really enjoyed pacing the half marathon route. The cadets were once again outstanding (as they were at Llanelli half) and do a great job. A really scenic out and back course which is mostly flat aside from a bit of a climb at the start and end and some small undulating sections close to the HM turnaround point. There can be the occasional bottleneck however nothing too bad and wont slow you down significantly. Personally feel the sustainable medals are a great idea and they take nothing away from the interval validation anyone will get from completing a half or full marathon! Lots of liquids available at the end to hydrate although future events may benefit from an extra food option in place of one of the drinks options (I think there were 4 different liquid choices and 1 food choice). Getting into the park prior to the race isn't a problem if you leave enough time. Parking was £4.50 for the whole day which felt reasonable enough for the amount of time parked up. Its a nice perk to be able to park up so close to the start line. A great event and would definitely do it again. Thanks to all of the organisers and volunteers who made it happen!

I think this is a lovely friendly event and it’s a pity that at least some of the negative reviews seem to reflect either not paying attention to advance information, or to changes that are affecting nearly all races. Personally I’m not that bothered about medals but I’d rather have the nicely designed and more environmentally friendly wooden option so I’m glad front runner have stuck with that despite quite a bit of criticism. The organisers have no control over parking fees in the country park which are flagged up clearly. They seemed to have managed traffic flow into the event better this year; we parked in the car park just outside the entrance as we’re local and have a season pass. There are other parking options if you’re prepared to have a but of a walk / jog warm up. There was a decent goody bag with some nice drinks and bars, and the offer of a free massage from physio students & staff from the local college which I’m sure many found welcome (I’ve used the facility at previous events but was with family so skipped it this time). Very few events seem to have a t-shirt included these days without paying extra, and I certainly have no interest in the generic undated shirt. I’d probably en disappointed to do the full marathon without a specific shirt offer but I have that many HM shirts that I personally wasn’t bothered but I guess it would be an issue for some. It’s a lovely course with decent support for a relatively small event and I felt marshalling, signage and water stations were more than adequate for the size of the event a d there seemed to be plenty of pacers at both marathon and half distances. My personal view is that most commercial HM’s & marathons are now over-priced (though I understand organiser costs like everything else will have risen), and this is no exception, so I tend to support even smaller club organised events, but having said thatthis is a well organised race in a great coastal location. As long as you’re not expecting big city marathon levels of infrastructure and atmosphere you’ll find this a fun and friendly run, that’s also suitable for PB chasing (depending on the coastal wind which wasn’t too bad this year).

Excellent course,fantastic marshals,plenty of hydration stations on the full marathon offering water ,electrolytes and gels , Support was good in places ,Thank you so much to the numourous members of the public handing out sweets this was very much needed. Cadet and volunteers done a fantastic job. Loved the sustainable medal and the goody bag. My T- shirt was pre ordered and should arrive in a week or so. We'll organised . Keep up the good work.

If this event grows in participant numbers, which really it deserves, I believe the organisers will be more than up to the task with additional facilities. There were enough there but I wouldn't mind seeing some changing rooms and a bag drop as not everyone will be comfortable changing at their car in adverse weather. The staff were fabulous and plenty of them everywhere except maybe a section towards the end of the marathon on the seafront, or maybe I was just too tired to see them. I really enjoyed the setting and the course, even that horrible little hill right at the end. I would love to do it again!

I paced this event and really enjoyed. The staff and volunteers were great on the day and delayed the start to accommodate late comers. The system to enter the park could have been better but that's no reflection on the race itself. The route was amazing in stunning surroundings but because fo the remote nature less spectators but for me as a seasoned runner it didn't bother me. The goodies at the end were nice and I the wooden medal was a nice touch given the race was held in a country park. Would recommend as this race a lot going for it. I'll be back in 2024 to pace again!
