This is a really well organised race, plenty of information in the build up and on the actual day facilities such as parking are easy to find and use. the race is split into waves which makes it less congested than some races can be at the start and is relatively flat so PBs are possible. The route has a long straight for 3 of the last 4k and although this is good for a rhythm it's also a bit dull as it i just an a road. The organisers did put some drum entertaintment to break this up though. There is also a seperate race within a race at mile 4 were you have to try complete your fastest mile. I look forward to this race every year.

This was my second time running the Grimsby 10K. In fact it is the first race I have done when I have returned the following year.

Great flat course, perhaps not the most picturesque. Local support was great as was the organisation. Very sensibly putting on an extra water station due to the heat. Yes, it was a hot day in Grimsby!

A bit to hot on this occasion for a PB. If that's what you're looking for, this would usually be the place to get one.

Good solid medal and quality tech t-shirt and no pointless goodie bags!

I'll be back again next year.

This was my first time running this race.

The negotiation of free parking at Freshney Place is a brilliant relief to what can be a headache. 

However, the directions to the shopping centre car park were amiss. I had to stop and ask a local as the roads that the sat nav took me were closed. 

At first I would’ve thought that 3,000+ entrants would make for a congested course throughout. However, I was pleasantly surprised to experience wide roads to avoid congestion. 

I was also pleasantly surprised by the feed stations carrying plenty of bottled water - bottled water as opposed to cupped water is majorly appreciated!! The feed stations were well stocked. The sponge station was most definitely a welcome! The jelly baby station was a fun little addition too. 

The course has a sneaky little hill of 34 meters  elevation just over half way so it’s not a 100% flat course, but it’s nothing to worry about, and the downhill makes up for it.

The scenery around the half way point is a welcome addition. 

The chip timer check point at 8km is a bit confusing as it kind of tricks you into thinking the end is in sight, not necessarily a bad thing as you make a push to get towards the finish. 

The medal is a great momento of the day, a nice size and design. 

It’s brilliant that the fun run entrants also receive a medal! My two little cousins were chuffed to receive theirs, although the 8 year old would’ve liked a bigger medal, bless him. 

My additions to the fun run would be a t-shirt and maybe even chip timing, although I realise the clue is in the name ‘fun run’. 

The start time of the main race is a refreshing change and allows that extra time for people traveling. 

The finish line area for the main race had lots of entertainment for family of the runners. Something to keep the kids occupied who seemed to enjoy it as they told me about the penalties they took. 

This is a great addition and makes the event unique. That is also set in a lovely scenic area. 

Overall a very good day out and will definitely be on my race calendar next year. 

This is the 3rd time ive done this 10k and I have to say it gets better every year.

Loads of information prior to the race which is good - number arrived in plenty of time.

On the day everything runs smoothy - lots of free parking - easy to navigate to the start of the race.

Loads of supporters on the course, marshalls were again brilliant and due to heat extra water stations put on so brilliant.

Very flat and fast - just slightly to hot for PBs.

Great finish in Park area and familys can wait and support.

Overall a very good 10k and the value for money is brilliant - nice medal and Tech T short as well.

Brillant all round - Lincoln city council take note of the price.......

My 1st time doing Grimsby 10k. I've heard many good things about this race & it lived up to those expectations. The main event (10k) was preceded by the family fun run. This really makes a great event even better with medals awarded for all runners,

In the build up runners were kept well informed with regular emails & plenty of updates on Facebook & Twitter.

The race itself is great value. Solid medal & decent quality tech shirt. The course has PB written all over it. Not the most scenic route but lots of public support, water stations & marshalls,

Starting in the centre & ending in a park with some long, flat stretches in between. I don't recall there being hills of any sort.

The final 3rd sees a 'Mad Mile' in which runners are encouraged to sprint for 1 mile with prizes awarded for the fastest. I stuck to the task in hand, stayed disciplined & resisted the temptation to go too fast. It was far too hot for that! It's an interesting concept & I saw many runners who were up for the challenge.

Finish line was in a large public park. Support was excellent as runners approached the finish.

Post race atmosphere was superb.There was an event village with stalls selling food, running gear as well as charity stalls.

In summary...

HIGHS: PB chasers dream.

LOWS: There was a long wait at the baggage trucks. Volunteers worked very hard & it's not a criticism of these amazing people who give up their time. Maybe the system needs an overhaul?

BOTTOM LINE: Fast,flat race that is great value.

This is my 2nd time doing this road 10k.  The race is on entirely closed roads starting in the centre of Grimsby.  There is a huge amount of crowd support, possibly the most I have seen in a 10k.

The route is relatively flat with just 60ft elevation on the whole route.  There is a Mad Mile at approx 4.5 miles where the fastest person over that mile wins a prize.  There were lots of people blowing up after this mile so unless you desperately want to win dont do it!

The finish is in the people's park which is lovely and shady.  They had 2 drumming bands this year with one on the Mad Mile  and the other at the finish which added to the atmosphere.

The medal is always large and blingy and this year was no exception.  You also get a technical t shirt.

 There is a family fun run before the main race which my daughter enjoys especially as this year they got a medal.

Great party atmosphere at the finish.

 The free parking is a bonus as well, only if you park in the multi storey at Freshney Place.

Organised by the very enthusiastic Tape 2 Tape this race is a fast growing race.

Easy to enter & with a two wave start ( 55 minutes being the divide ) the only negative I felt was we were called up to the start to early & the lady speaking on the pa was hard to hear. This wouldn’t put me off entering again.

The Route was flat, support in residential areas was fabulous, there were plenty of water stations, especially for a 10k, it was hot. A timed mile around 7km in broke up a long boring section, having said that no one around me was able to raise there pace.

Agreat finish, running into a park, medal was great & t shirt ok, I think most runners have enough t shirts. Lots of activities in the finish area.

It was fab bumping into fellow visor club member on this my second race.

Definatley a race worth the 30+ mile drive to.

The Grimsby 10k took place on a very hot day, and this may have altered my view of the race.

Whilst there was well-organised official parking, getting from the parking to the start line wasn't the easiest - luckily I found a couple of friendly locals to follow!

The route, if I'm perfectly honest, was pretty boring. Half of the route ran long an old railway line, so was pretty straight, and was cut into an embankment that restricted the views. This harmed my motivation, which was almost destroyed by "mad mile"

The "Mad Mile" was meant to be a timed section to go fast in - but there was nothing especially of note about it. Seeing the "Finish" line stretch across the route at the end of the made mile, when there was still a couple of km to go, completed wrecked what little I had left of my motivation. I would urge the organisers to reconsider this section if they haven't done so already.

The finish in the park was brilliant and I can't fault it. It was a good goodie bag, with a good medal and a nice festial atmosphere to finish. It's just a shame that atmosphere didn't really seem to translate onto the course.
