This was the first time doing this raceand I was a bit nervous after reading the reviews from the previous year. However on the whole I was pleasantly surprised. The communication was good befreohand and they sent you the race number. The race village was in a sports hall of the local vilalge sports centre. It was nice and warm which was great as it was a freezing cold day. There was no spcific car parks so I founfd a side roade with plenty of parking by the side of the road. The bad drop was fine and after waiitng for a bit in the warm I ventured outside to find the start line which was only a couple of minutes walk from the sports hall.

The weather was perfect, very cold, but nice sunshine. The course was good, mostly flat with a mile to start and finish with then 2 laps of approx 5.5. miles. I don't usually like laps but this was ok as it was nice scenery out in the country and it wasn't too long. There was support and the marshalls were great. Nice medal and tec t-shirt to finish with.  I will do this race agains next year.

It was a bit of a shambles. You had to enter a hall to collect bands for the lapped course which could have easily been included with the posted race number. Queues of people all over with no clear idea of what was going on. Once started it wasn't too bad but it is by far the worst medal in my collection, truly awful bling. Races are a bit few and far between in January but not sure I'd return unless I was desperate

In my view the race was poorly organised, there was a massive queue to enter the hall, which turned out to be the queue for late registrants. There was confusion with the marshals where the start was! We were given four bands were to handed in on each lap, cheats simply need to lose a band to be a lap short, not good for a London Marathon 'good for age quailifer'. The energy drink ran out on the second lap. Many roads were shared with other road users, with several dangerous road crossings. Finally, we presented with a tat medal which frankly would be embarrasing at a school sports day. To be avoided.

There were 3 race distances available on the day, a half, a marathon or a 50k ultra. I did the half marathon which was two laps on a nice flat route which resulted in a huge chunk knocked off my PB so that was a real positive. The only downside for me, and many others i spoke to, was the signage on the route. As there were three distances all doing varying numbers of laps of the same route the distance markers made no sense. I remember passing three largely different distance markers all within around 500m none of which matched the distance on my gps watch. Perhaps for future the distance markers for each event could be on different coloured signs that way runners could work out exactly where they are without confussion. Overall it was a reasonable run but not one I’d rush to do again.

It was alright. The four loops did get repetitive and boring. Pretty good course for a fast time although it was hillier than expected.

Well organised and very friendly. Lots of parking and easy to get to. Route isn't much to look at and is actually quite lumpy in places. Great marathon to keep you ticking before the spring marathons! If you like bling then you'll be left a little disappointed....
