Glorious Gargrave is another superb, friendly 'It's Grim Up North' event covering all distances from 5k to Ultra. I ran the marathon. 
Gargrave is a stunning place to run, especially when the sun is shining. Marathon course was 2x out and backs in opposite directions.  (6miles & then 20 miles). Ground was quite bumpy for the first 6 miles but nothing too bad. Paths were very good on second 20 section. Not much local support but courses like this are great for supporting other runners which I think is really nice. The beautiful scenery is also a major plus. It's not called 'Glorious' Gargrave for nothing. 
Finishers received a top quality medal, beer & chocolate. There was also the usual home baked cake which you see at all IGUN events. 
Another lovely feature are little trophies for the 1st 3 runners in all distances for both men & women. It's brilliant to see ordinary runners picking up these trophies instead of just the elites guys. 
Water stations were regular but I'd like to see maybe 1 more over the course. Something they should maybe consider?
Overall, it was a brilliant day. Massive thank you to organisers & the friendly marshals for a great event. 
If you've not done an It's Grim Up North event then why not? I can't recommend them enough. 

My Second IGUN event. Well organised, supportive checkpoints with good selection goodies! Love the fact that there are various distances on the day, so you can run with friends. Great cakes as usual. Reasonable cut off times for Marshall’s who were all really supportive and friendly. Thanks again It’s Grim Up North. Glorious Gargrave is a great trail route for your first Ultra Marathon.

It's Grim Up North (IGUN) Running - 10 out of 10 - don't really need to say much more!

IGUN always produce great events. As with most, today had multi distances available, I opted for the half marathon - my 30th! The route starts and finishes on the Leeds / Liverpool canal next to the Premier Inn at Gargrave. The Premier Inn offer plenty of parking and toilet facilities, plus you have the choice to eat and have a drink after the race!

Although it wasn't that sunny, it was really really warm. As usual, these are friendly events with the usual bottle of beer/cider or lager, chocolate, homemade cakes and great medal. 

IGUN are always friendly events and value for money. 

My first Grim run made extra special because my son came from Hamburg (he came first in the 5K!!) to run with me & my daughter (I think this may be a one off so was fantastic!).

The event was great, well organised & everyone was really friendly from the marshalls to the people cheering us on - especially at the finish!

1st time I’ve run with ITS GRIM UPNORTH . Brill medal 🏅 beer, chocolate , and very scrummy cakes . Very friendly helpful volunteers/and runners , I hope 🤞 I’ve come third in the 10k didn’t know my time and position till I got home . My friend got a trophy for third male back which I was very pleased for him . Fabulous day !!!

This was the 1st time I'd entered the marathon with thr Grim team, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The organisers and marshalls were so friendly and welcoming. And the runners were all full of encouragement. The views were stunning. Not many spectators around but that was expected really. Always a good spread at the end, and I'm very, very thankful for that! Keep doing what you do x
