A great local 10k which often sells out very quickly, which is a measure of the popularity of the event. Although trail its mainly on well made paths, so trail shoes definitely not needed, even if wet. It was very hot when I did the race for the first time in 2022, luckily thee are plenty of trees for some shade. A bit of a party atmosphere at the start/finish with Metro Radio DJs manning the sound system, giving shout outs etc. A well organised, friendly trail run.

Registration not totally straightforward, your collection point is your race number rather than name so if, like me, you forget what your number is you don't really know where to go.  After standing in the rain trying to find an email with it on, I just had to ask someone.

Lots of food and drink on offer at the event village, but seating was only hay bales which aren't so good in the rain.

Race is not all on trails, as there are parts of it on paths but you still get lovely views so would suit someone just beginning to try their hand at trail running

This was first time I participated in this race. I will be back again next year. Really enjoyed it. There was parking on site but we parked just outside of the grounds as wasn't sure how busy it was. The event area was well set up with coffee, pizza stalls. Plenty toilets so queues went down quite well. The course although a trail, I was able to wear normal runners as most was on path surrounded by lovely scenery.

The goody bag was banana, water, crisps and protein bar, oh and Haribo

Gateshead Trail 10k is a brilliant, medium sized local race. It isn’t really a trail race (a lot of it is on paved paths) but it certainly isn’t road.

Pros

  • Very well organised
  • Clear instructions emailed about car sharing
  • Proper toilets at the start! Such luxury
  • Well marshalled and signposted (I heard some people saying they’d gone wrong but I really can’t see how that would happen)
  • Free photos (can’t comment on quality yet as they’re being a little slow at getting them out)
  • Lovely scenic course
  • Great chunky medal

Cons

  • The goodie bags were being made up as they were handed out to people so it was a slow process with long queues

I really enjoyed this one and will probably be repeating it again in the future.

Mild trail run held in august. the route is flat a couple of mild climbs. Parking is limited so arrive a little early. Would take part again. Good event area which contains a warm up and music from the local radio station.

Nice course and fairly fast I found. Lots of flat or downhill parts, but a few hills for Good measure. Good first trail style race (I'm not sure trail purists would see it as a trail race, but maybe I'm wrong.) Well orgnaiswd on the day. I had no issues getting parked - plenty of...

Good first trail style race (I'm not sure trail purists would see it as a trail race, but maybe I'm wrong.) Well orgnaiswd on the day. I had no issues getting parked - plenty of marshals around. Great medal-come-bottle opener. T shirts extra so I didn't bother, but they looked quite nice.

First time I've done this event and it's always got good reviews from fellow runners. The race is a great scenic 10k in Gateshead, it's mainly flat with a few cheeky hills thrown in for good measure. Great support at the start and finish and a fantastic atmosphere throughout. An ace medal too, which doubles as a bottle opener. What's not to like?

Nice course and although I don't like off road it was pleasant underfoot.

A few hilly spots but nothing huge!

T-shirt costs extra but very cheap to enter race and the medal is fab!

Parking on site free and an overflow car park available for use

Overall a great day!
