This was my first Eyam half marathon and only my third ever half marathon and I enjoyed every second of it. I wasn’t ready for the hill at about mile 10, which was brutal but brilliant at the same time! A huge amount of credit must go to the marshals around the course. Their enthusiasm, encouragement and professionalism were second to none. No matter where you were on the route, there was always a friendly face offering support, motivation and clear direction. Their energy helped carry runners through some of the toughest sections and created an atmosphere that made the event feel far more than just a race. There was a fantastic sense of camaraderie throughout, with runners encouraging each other over every climb and sharing the collective challenge that makes Eyam so special. I will most definitely be back!

So glad you enjoyed it Jon - If you fancy joining us in August for Eyam Fell Race we can promise you more of the same (although maybe less hail).

I last ran at this event in 2024 and left a very favourable review, with only a minor concern related to traffic on the course. I am pleased to say that 2026 felt much safer with regards to passing vehicles and there seemed to be fewer overall. Everything else is spot on. The village is great, there is ample free parking, the marshalls are supportive and do their jobs well, the water stations are frequent enough and well manned, the selection of post race snacks is generous and obviously the course is stunning. Probably still my favourite half marathon event; I'll be back!

Thanks Shaun. Glad our measures with traffic have improved things, although this is always a work in progress and we continue to look at ways to encourage drivers to behave more considerately.

I first ran this race in the early 1990s and have kept coming back regularly and encourage others to do so This is my favourite HM and is brilliantly organised and friendly. I love the hills. The organisers could not be blamed for the hail shower. Having been unable to race for two years, I was keen to get back, knowing that it would be slower that usual. I had particularly good runs in 2022/23 and was glad to be back. The race organiser is superb and answers any questions or comments. It is a pleasure to run in such a friendly and well organised event, with the most enthusiastic support from the locals. The trophies are amazing and it is so well thought out to supply a Tree not Tee option - not to mention the bananas, flapjacks etc. Compared with many larger races, the organisation is superb and this one wins on value for money. It has the same ethos as local fell races, which are great community events. This rubs off on the athletes and you feel as if you are part of a family or team. Great to see a number of running vests from clubs around the country as well as a huge turn out from Derbyshire and Yorkshire plus locals from the village. How many other races have a walk as well.

This was the toughest run I’ve ever done but it’s a beautiful route and a very well organised race. As a back of the pack runner it was great to see how much support there was at the end from organisers, volunteers and faster runners who had finished. Plenty of water stations, well organised registration, great facilities at the start and very much appreciated flapjack at the end.

This is by far my favourite race of the year. Amazing scenery, lovely to see lambs and calves, plus gliders over the flying club. Extremely challenging but by the same token very rewarding. There is a real sense of team spirit when you hit the hills, we are all in it together. A big thank to all of the amazing volunteers and to the bakers for the much needed flapjack at the end.

Absolutely fantastic event, really well organised from start to finish. The scenery was stunning and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I genuinely love this run and would highly recommend it. One area for improvement would be the first mile or so. After the initial loop of Eyam, the route narrowed into a tight road which created quite a bottleneck. It felt quite congested and I nearly tripped a couple of times due to the volume of runners. It might be worth considering staggered waves in future to help ease this and improve safety early on. I also really appreciate the sustainability aspect, particularly the option to opt out of a t-shirt and have a tree planted instead. That’s a great initiative. That said, I do have to admit I much prefer a medal over a t-shirt. There are lots of sustainable medal options available now, so it would be great to have the choice to opt for a medal instead, even if that came with a small additional cost. Overall, an amazing event that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I’ll definitely be back!

Thanks Amanda - we talk about medals every year and we'll certainly look at the option of making them an opt-in item at future events.
