A perfect event for a first time ultra runner, though also clearly a favourite of ultra veterans. Friendly and unashamedly inclusive, with a real community vibe, and a relatively fast course.

A perfect event for a first time ultra runner, though also clearly a favourite of ultra veterans. Friendly and unashamedly inclusive, with a real community vibe, and a relatively fast course.
I wasn't sure I'd love it being an out and back, but actually getting to clap, cheer and encourage the runners coming the other way fitted perfectly the character of the event. It was ideal too that the route began and ended outside a pub where conversations with new friends could carry on.
Even with Storm Amy stealing a few of the waymarks, the course was fairly easy to follow, and the aid stations had all kinds of goodies from salty to sweet to pickley sour.
