Probably the best grassroots triathlon in the country, and certainly best value for money. First of all, Chester is a great town for a triathlon. The river is a little challenging for weaker swimmers given the flow but the bike and run courses are both good. Only negative on the bike course was it's business as Standard Distance racers and Middle Distance racers get mixed up on the second lap. Run was great, one more aid station could potentially have been useful and the course doesn't quite measure a full half marathon (this is stated on entry so not really a complaint) but otherwise the course does well to take in some nice sights and steer clear of any of the brutal hills round Chester. I would have this one down as a bucket list event.

Very well run race. Organisers know what they are doing. T-shirt, race belt (my favourite gift) and gels in goodie bag were good quality. Complimentary professional photos were much appreciated. Village atmosphere was a bit flat with no music or catering vans for spectators to get tea and coffee. Maybe organisers could reduce number of medals given out as I don’t need another triathlon medal each time I race. Maybe I should have handed it back? Overall, very well run event for the athletes. Could do with a bit more for the spectators.

My first event and I was pleasantly surprised. The organisation before, during and after the event was first class. The organisers managed to get a great balance between a professionally run but user friendly event. The safety cover in and around the water was excellent, with plenty of boats, kayaks and paddle boards and the help, guidance and encouragement in transition was very welcome. The bike course was through some beautiful countryside and was signposted and marshalled throughout. All in all a fantastic, well run event. I would recommend this all abilities and age groups.

This is such a friendly event and the support on the run is great. River swim is nice, bike course not too many hills and nice views as you head into Wales and back. The run is flat and really good for supporters as the middle distance is 5 laps. Chester is a great spot for a weekend away and the goodies and medal are fab. I love an event that gives a quality T shirt in a ladies fit - it means that it gets used again and again and the hoodie is great. Lovely colour this year as well!

A nice local race for me so I can get out on the course. Registration was nice and simple, the whole event was really well run and the marshalls were fantastic. Free parking was a real bonus and for spectators, the city centre is only a short walk away. The bike route is initially on closed roads and has has a couple of short climbs but some nice fast sections as well. The run route is laps (number depends on the distance you're doing) so family and friends get to see the joy (or pain) on your face as you shuffle by. It was a shame that after the finish you had to go through the transition area to meet up with your supporters but it wasn't far to go and a very minor point. Will definitely be back and it's nice to see a local club hosting a race rather than a commercial organisation.

This is such a great event - superb organisation, very well supported by marshals and friendly. It’s slick every year and Chester is a lovely city. This was my 4th Deva - we travel up from the South West for it.
