This was a great event! Beautiful location off Blackpool Sands, and it was well run. There was a bit of swell on the day I took part but it all felt very safe. It also felt really welcoming - I am a reasonable swimmer but not in competition for podium places, and I felt all staff...

I felt completely safe in the water throughout the event. The on-water support was excellent and there were a lot of lifeguards. The water was choppy and this was the first time I have swum so far out to sea in such conditions. I would have appreciated a different medal and /or ribbon to distinguish between the distances swum, instead of all receiving the same one. It was my incentive to complete the 3km. In addition, when I booked, it was stated that there would be a first to fifth medal in each age group. When I asked about this at the end, I was told that there was only a first to third for the whole event. For older swimmers like me, I would never be in with a chance of receiving an additional medal whereas I would have achieved one in this event in my age group. There was no cake at the end - it had all gone! Whether earlier finishers had eaten more than their fair share, or insufficient was provided, I don't know. All in all the event was good fun though and I felt a real sense of achievement.

That was my daughter first ever open water event, she is 12. She felt very welcomed and safe and enjoyed a lot, planning to do more open water swims in the future. Having a T-shirt is great touch, same as hot drinks on the finish. Absolutely loved the ability to print her result.

Very well organised and felt safe and welcoming (I’m a nervous swimmer so this made a big difference). Beautiful location and laps course nice for beginners or experienced swimmers. Hot drinks, snacks and friendly staff at finish very much appreciated. Big thanks again.

Glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately we can't start the triathlons on Sunday any later as the road gets so busy for cyclists by late morning. We have asked Devon County Council about the possibility of closing the main road for the event but were turned down flat. We will suggest swimmers camp at the far end of the beach in future to be further away from our PA system.

This is the second time I’ve swum the Dartmouth swim. Each time it has been well organised, with great volunteers. The organisers have even arranged for the sun to come out. Will be swimming again next year!
