Really excellent event to do my first standard distance triathlon. The swim course looked huge, and was a bit of a challenge sighting wise as we swam towards the morning sun, meaning I swam an extra few hundred metres due to constantly getting off course. Bike course was excellent with one decent sized hill to contend with (twice as its a 2 lap course). The run course was fantastic, across the dam with amazing views back across the reservoir and mainly flat. Organisation was on point, and especially the steward on the first turn of the bike course who was providing some great motivation. Great experience for a first try at a standard distance triathlon.

Biggest event I’ve ever been to. More for serious triathletes than hobbyists like me but still well worth doing. Very well organised and a lovely rural setting

I completed the Dambuster triathlon in 2021 having only entered it 4 weeks previously. It was a last-minute entry after completing a half in Aug and getting the bug back after COVID. The race was well organised and set up. Registration was easy and transition was well organised. The swim was in the lovely Rutland Lake, which was calm but there were a few rolling waves as you got out of the shelter of the creak. The bike was undulating with some hills followed by fast descents. The hills were generally short and steady and nothing too extreme. A few miles were on busy roads, but they were wide enough to feel safe. It was my first race on a TT bike and coped alright. The run was flat and fast with only a few hundred meters where there were small inclines. The run over the dam and out to the church has good views and the other competitors gave encouragement. Overall, a good race and one I would be happy to do again. Race photos were also free, I love when events do that. Think it would be a good race for first timers too. Well done Pacesetter Events.

This is a local race for me but not competed for a few year.

The numbers seem to have dropped over the last few years but still a very well organised event from a very experiance team at Pacesetter Events.

Nice calm swim in the creak just off the main body of water, one simple loop and easy to navigate.

Bike is undulateing and with 3 shortish climbs to test you and is slightly long for an olympic at 26miles.

Run is an out and back cousre, nice and flat but can be windy, this year the weather was perfect.

A quality triathlon from Pacesetter Events, they have been doing this a for a few years now so it runs on rails - i last raced here n 2006! numbers a little low this year as it wasnt a qualifier or National Champs race - didnt affect the day, still plenty of quality competition. a good honest course; flat lake swim, rolling bike course and a multi surface flat run around the lake. Erdinger sponsor the event so a nice cold alcohol free beer at the end is always good. this year the RAF were out in force as it was their club champs and we were treated to a fly past from the Red Arrows at the end - nice! all in all, a good day out and all done by lunchtime - winner!

When I first got into Triathlon in 2012. The Dambuster triathlon was  race i hear talked about a lot. It was difficult to get into and was one that always had a high quality field. Well I finally got round to entering and I was'nt dissapointed. I know the area and the route well ... but you never get bored of the natural beauty of the location. Set at Rutland water a large inland reservoir the scenery is stunning. The swim is in good quality water in a area which hides the swimmers from any real waves whipped up by the wind. The layout of the transition is close with no major hike from water to T1. The bike course loops around the reservoir and provides a real challenge with some rolling hills with some very fast sections mixed in. The run is fairly flat and again hugs the reservoir providing stunning scenery to finish the race. Overall thus is a great race well organised and it's surprising it is no longert as popular as it once was. It was still a good quality field to compete against and  fair course to race on.

First time I've done this and thought it excellent. Beautiful clean lake; tough bike course but thought the run was a little boring. One downside was the was no finishers medal, and we all know, it's all about the medal

Run is great.  A little uphill to start you off then out and across the dam. Aid station at the end and then back. Lovely surroundings to take your mind off the effort.  Only criticism, t shirts can be a bit ropey.  Nice designs but often poor quality.  No medals though sadly.

Yet again, the first time I've done this race. Managed to find the location ok. Didn't manage to register on the day before due to traffic but the registration process was fairly quick.

The swim was a beach start in the lake at Rutland Water. The swim was a loop, taking in the sights of the marina (a nice touch)

T1 was about 200m away from the swim exit. Some matting would have been appreciated as the run to T1 was mostly across gravel.

The bike consisted of a 40km loop taking in the Rutland scenery, and involving the famous 'Rutland Ripple'. Well signposted and good roads, just wish I recce'd the hills before the race!

T2 was simple, no confusions with racking and the run out.

The run was a 10k loop across the dam wall and involving a small grassed section. The aid stations were well spaced and well stocked with High5 products.

Overall, a beautiful race (scenery-wise). Well organised and well thought out. Just wish I cycled the route beforehand! Will definitely be doing this event again.
