Love this half, other than Great North Run, this has to be my favourite half, this was my third year running it and I always run it as a training run for my marathons.
Close to home for me, great route, very well supported, great value for money, well marshalled and plenty of water stations!
Highly recommended.

I've run this race in the years previously and it's still a good one. The first half is way easier, supported and although quite up and down is a nice run. The second half is a proper test of your mental ability, with stretches and stretches of country roads. The Marshall support is great, and it's needed because the local traffic out there can be less than patient.
Its a good race, the bling is immense and the goody bag usually stocked with a standard banana, crisps and a mars bar plus leaflets. The t-shirt is a decent cotton one, and the last three I've had are all different colours, however because it's cotton, probably not one that you would use for future sporting activities particularly.
Facilities at the start/finish are plentiful and I've never had to queue for the toilet for longer than 5-10mins. It's always a few degrees cooler at the football stadium for some reason, and can lure you into a false sense of how warm it can get out on the course, just to bare that in mind!!
All in all good value for money and well organised,

Completed the Colchester Half Marathon in 2016 and then again in 2017. Not a flat course but a unique one as you run through the UK's oldest town. The 2017 Medal was in the shape of the local Victorian water tower "Jumbo" which was some cool bling :) Looking forward to running it again next year.
