A great club organised race around the undulating North Derbyshire countryside. The race starts at the leisure centre and finishes at the Community centre in the centre of Clowne. A van takes all the baggage from the start to the finish. Not all the roads are cl...

A great club organised race around the undulating North Derbyshire countryside. The race starts at the leisure centre and finishes at the Community centre in the centre of Clowne. A van takes all the baggage from the start to the finish. Not all the roads are closed but its run on very quiet country lanes so it feels safe. Lots of marshals out there and crowd support in the larger villages. The highlight of this race is the hoodie for all finishes and home made cake! Definitely one to do every year for me

A great value race with a hoodie for all finishers!

Parking is in the village with plenty of it. Where ever you park you no more than a few minutes away from the start and number pick up. Toilets are plentiful at the start area with lots of bushes on route if you’re caught short!

The route is pretty hilly and takes you round the small villages around Clowne. The roads arent closed but there is very little traffic on the route. The marshals are fantastic and on every corner cheering.

This is fairly local to me so thought i would give it go. Nothing special about this race eveyone raves about the hoodie you get when you finsh. Its as plain as you can get few hills in the course marsahlls were all good. Hoodie was terrible. Not a race i will do again.

Great end of year event,bit undulating and the hill at mile 10 and then at 12.5 miles hurt But well organised great Marshallers,you are running close to live traffic at times but always felt very safe Car parks all very close very easy checking in process and lots of toilets ...

Clowne half marathon is a good event, not a flat course at all so doesn’t encourage a PB, good for a mid winter race of middle distance! Marshall’s were tremendous and the markers on course good, feed stations could do with a food option maybe bananas which would be worth a little more money as water is a bit blah. All in all great race, great set up, great finisher hoody. Enjoyed.

I did this race as its local to where i live and ran on many of the roads which make up the course.

Its a quite rural route and takes in some little country villages and open spaces too. The course is undulating and is a challenge but not too bad.

for most of the route the course was clear but towards the end due to traffic and no road closures you are forced to run on narrow, uneven paths. This became rather tricky in the latter stages on tired legs.

all in all i enjoyed the course but feel it could be greatly improved if a few traffic restrictions and controls where put in place.
