I really should research things before saying Yes - but i am so glad I did for this event.

Conveniently (for me) right outside my office and in front of one of the tube exits at Canary Wharf. It's a great pop up and a good location for people to get to and to gather a bit of support from passers by.

The idea is a team of three complete a triathlon - 3mins Swim in an endless pool (which is super cool), 4mins on a static bike & 3mins run. Essentially anyone can take part - i am sure most can jog for 3mins.

We were able to have a warm up on a spare treadmill/bike pre race and it was time to get on stage (eeek).

It was nice that we didnt all go at the same time so we could support and cheer each other on.

I have to say that 3mins, full pelt at 3% incline is seriously tougher than expected.

Good challenge, nice and well organised and a great opportunity to build team work!

Would love to do again!

Great for team bonding and a fun work break. This is a very short relay style triathlon, all done stationary so no need to bring any gear other than sports clothes. Run very smoothly by the castle triathlon series crew and would definitely do again. Only point for improvement would be to take into account rider weight when calculating the distance covered on the bike rather than simply wattage, as there's a clear disadvantage for lighter riders who in real conditions may have riden much further even at slightly lower wattage vs bigger riders.

I didn't really know what I was signing up for to be honest when the opportunity came up on Twitter to join a relay team with Race Check - how hard can running one km be I thought!

Clearly I should have read the smal print because this wasn't just an ordinary ŕun.

It was in fact a mini triathlon, hosted by Castle Triathlon and in conjunction with Macmillan Cancer, set up in the middle of Canary Wharf and was a relay - 3 athletes  (yes I did say athletes!!) taking it in turns - 3 mins swim in a static infinity pool, 4 mins on a static Watt bike and then 3 mins on a treadmill with a 3% incline - sounds simple right?

I was in Team 1 of 2 representing Race Check so we were up first. We warmed up on stage (yes it was up on a stage with office bods and tourists standing around watching and cheering) and then we were off.

The idea is that the team cover as many meters as possible in the overall time.

Paul was first up in the pool and we were told he was only the second competitor to have completed his swim with a consistent front crawl - excellent work and it got the team off to a great start!

In true relay spirit Paul jumped out of thè pool and tagged Alex who was next up on the bike - again steady consistent work and a good distance covered.

Next up was me, once tagged by Alex the Castle Triathlon rep then set my treadmill up and off I went - 3 mins as fast as I could without falling flat on my face. Despite a malfunticion when I caught the emergency chord with my hand causing the treadmill to stop after 90 secs, I went off again and completed just shy of 0.5km in the allocated time.  As a plodder I was really happy with that and was then advised I was the first female runner to have taken the stage - even better!

All in all a great team effort and we went into 4th place.

Next up we cheered on Race Check Team 2 who again had a great relay.

Afterwards as it was such a cold day we went for a warm up coffee and sarnie in one of the many coffee shops in Canary Wharf to catch up with the guys and talk more with our new Twitter friends.

Oh and I forgot the goody bag we were given for participating - not expected but always well received with energy gels, a water bottle and Ouside Swimmer mag!

The event was over 3 days so I am sure there were many more great team efforts after us but for me it was a great fun event and one I would definitely recommend suggesting entering a company team into next year, where the entry fee of £250 goes to such a great cause.

Overall a fab event, great organisation and I would definitely recommend it!

This was a brilliantly organised unique event open to seasoned triathletes and those wanting to 'dip their toe in the water' of the sport. I had no idea of the set up of the event when I put my name forward to be on team Racecheck Visor club, but was delighted to find out I would be part of a relay with like minded sport lovers.

The event was easy to get to and really well located. The set up was amazing and the briefings for each section was brilliant (although, having done Cholmondelay Castle Tri I would only ever expect the best of briefings from Castle Triathlon).

I'd absolutely promote this event to anyone who wants to try something different. I now just need to save my pennies to buy an endless pool for my garden!

I was unexpectedly offered the opportunity to take part in this unique urban triathlon as part of a relay team. The tri format is 3 minutes in an endless pool, 4 minutes on a static watt bike and 3 minutes on a treadmill.

The aim of the triathlon is for all entry fees to be donated to charity with the winning team, being quite simply, the team who logs up the most distance in total.

The set up is easy to locate (just outside of one of the tube exits) comprising of a stage with the treadmill, bike and pool set up, a warm up area, registration tent as well as a coffee/beer stand and a stall selling swimming/bike gear. The registration was simple and straight forward and the organisers/marshals could not have been more helpful. I did the cycling element and had help in getting the bike set up.

Although I only cycled for 4 minutes I unexpectedly found it tougher than anticipated! I had such fun though as part of the team and would love the opportunity to do something like that again.

The Pop-Up City Triathlon is a triathlon like no other. It's a relay triathlon held on a stage in Canary Wharf, and is distance timed (i.e. participants swim/cycle/run as far as possible in a given time). The triathlon uses an endless pool for the swim, a static bike for the cycle and a treadmill for the run with the timings being a 3 min swim, 4 min cycle and 3 min run.

Clearly this is very different from a usual Triathlon experience as the focus is on speed over a timed period rather than endurance (as is usually the case - for me at least!).

The event is a charity event and teams are placed on a leaderboard, with the top teams at the end of the week competing in the final. Entrants are drawn from many of the local businesses in Canary Wharf alongside race review websites (I competed for Racecheck), charities and other tri partners.

Dotted around the stage are tents offering cycle repairs, training gear and charity representation.

The Castle Triathlon team organising the event were super friendly and made everyone feel really welcome. After changing for the event, we were given time to practise our relevant disciplines (swim for me) and the pre-race briefing was given very clearly. There was another treadmill and static bike for warming up too. I hadn't been in an endless pool prior to the event so it was helpful to have some time to practise and get used to the environment.

Then we were off! The 3 min swim seemed to go very quickly and although it took a little while to adjust to the pool at first, I quickly settled in to a steady pace. After 2 mins, the signal was given that there was 1 min left - then the transition count 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and out of the pool and into transition.  I was then able to cheer on my fellow teammates and was provided with a Dryrobe to warm up (despite being mid-April, it felt more like winter!) so the robe was very much appreciated.

After the three disciplines had been completed, the distance we'd travelled on the swim, cycle and run was totalled and recorded. We then posed for some photos with Racecheck and watched our fellow team (Racecheck 2) step up to the stage.

Very soon it was all over and after some final photos we were handed our finishers' bags (various drinks and coconut water, energy gels and powders, magazine).

Afterwards, there was time to reflect on the event with Racecheck and Castle Triathlon over a much welcome coffee. Everyone agreed that it was an incredible event and we'd all try to come along again next year!

Thanks to everyone at Racecheck and Castle Triathlon for a great experience.
