This was the third year I have partaken in the Salford 10k.

Much the same as previous years, the formula seems to work, so no real need to change it.

Disappointments with the tram network not running on the morning of the race. Not the event organisers fault, but frustrating. The organisers made participants aware during the build-up in the race week, which was helpful.

Crowds aren't huge, once leaving media city. The race flows around the roads of Trafford Park industrial site. The only concern is only one side of the road is closed and there were instances were cars would use the opposite side of the road to pass. So come from behind us runners.

Overall, worth the entry fee for a medal + T-shirt.

2nd year running this race and I still wish they could change the start line organisation, there isn't enough room for everyone to get into the starting pen, which results in some people pushing others. Other than that there are no problems with the organisation of this race, it isn't very scenic taking you out of Media City and towards Old Trafford then back again. Relatively flat course, good times are achievable here, nice t ahirt and medal in the goody bag. Plenty of parking but I use the Meteolink system as it couldn't get much closer to the start line, easiest race to get to.

Tough one to review because after about 200 metres I rolled my ankle off a kerb. The pavements and road were the same colour for a small section and with a crowd of people i didn’t spot the kerb. It was a rather boring route taking in a bit of media city and then out towards Old ...

Tough one to review because after about 200 metres I rolled my ankle off a kerb. The pavements and road were the same colour for a small section and with a crowd of people i didn’t spot the kerb. It was a rather boring route taking in a bit of media city and then out towards Old Trafford. I will do this again but only to abolish the demons of injuring my ankle and setting myself a better time.

A flat course with only 58 feet of elevation, so definitely PB potential. A slight route change to when I did it a couple of years ago has made a huge difference. You still spend most of the route in Trafford and an industrial estate, but it is vastly improved. I really enjoyed today and great support on the quays, particularly into the finish. Nice medal and T-shirt in the goody bag. Easy to get too, plenty of parking and right at a metro link station too. Will definitely be there next year.

My 1st time running the UKFast Salford 10k. A very enjoyable experience, within a great setting that is Media City. Registration was straight forward, as was the information and directions for the day that was sent out prior to race day. Race day itself, plenty of parking available at the Lowry shopping centre. Organisation was good on the day. The course was nice and flat overall, apart from a couple of bridges you have to cross over but it's easily a potential pb setting route. First couple of km around MediaCity, the road is half open. One side for cars, one side for runners which lead to bit of congestion in the early stages. Once the route left Media City, some of the surroundings weren't on the scenic side, as it's mostly around industrial estates until the last couple of km. Goody bag was good, with a medal & tshirt.

This was the 3rd time i have ran the UKFast Salford 10k. I live in the area so it is a convenient race for me to enter. It is relatively cheap to enter compared to some other similar events (£21). For me the best thing about the Salford 10k is the transport links and the location provides plenty of parking if you want to travel straight there by car. I choose to use the Manchester Metrolink as it drops you off at Media City right at the starting line, i find this takes away a lot of the anxiety beforehand knowing it is easy to get to the start. The race itself is always enjoyable and very well organised. It doesn't have the best of scenery and views as the route takes you into Trafford Park Industrial Estate but the crowds and atmosphere are always good. Add to that the course is as flat as you will get in a 10k (apart from being on a track) and you can definitely train towards getting a 10k PB. As a local this is a race i look forward to and i would certainly recommend it to anybody. Even if you would have to travel a long distance to get here, it would be an ideal race to fit in during a weekend visit to Manchester.

Marshalls all around the course were brill + esp important in the quieter sections! Might be an idea to make the km signs abit bigger next year (heard someone at 3km who was confused as she hadn’t seen 1 or 2km signs!) Everyone was really positive! Nice goody bag at the end. An enjoyable race, good communication before the event and a hassle free race day! Will hopefully do it all again next year!

My 2nd consecutive year running the event. Great crowds in the final 200 meters, going back across the bridge. Parking no issues, just use the Lowry outlet car park or tram straight up to the starting area. Route through Trafford Park Industry estate, which is a bit dull. You do pass by Old Trafford (some people make like that!). Water station at 5km, on my arrival, about 27 mins we had to stop and grab from the packet. Overall, a decent PB course and for the cost (about £20), get a medal and a t-shirt. Will probably do it next year.
