Back at the Preston 10k for another year. Cracking course with lots of sneaky hills packed in. Also love an opportunity to run in my home town. Received my pre-race email in the week running up to it but didn't receive my race number so had to collect it on the day. Plenty to do...

Back at the Preston 10k for another year. Cracking course with lots of sneaky hills packed in. Also love an opportunity to run in my home town. Received my pre-race email in the week running up to it but didn't receive my race number so had to collect it on the day. Plenty to do in the event village before hand - bag drop, toilets, coffee vans, warm up etc. Marshals were super friendly and helpful out on course. Never felt too crowded, water station out there if needed and lots of local support. Medal this year was made out of wood - whilst I am happy they are trying to be more sustainable the quality of the medal was lacking a little bit - felt very thin and flimsy. Overall a great local 10k race which I will attend again next year.

First time running my home town event and really enjoyed it. Information up to the race was spot on and race bibs were sent out about a week beforehand and mine arrived with no issues. Event village was nicely laid out, bag drop with all donations going towards charity and a warm up for everyone to do about 15 minutes before the race which was fun. The course itself defiantly has a few lumps and bumps so maybe not a great one for a pb time but was still a nice little route, Starting out in the town centre then doing a lap of the park before heading over the river for a while before looping back to the town centre. Water was handed out about half way and given out at the end. Appreciated these being fully recyclable bottles which makes a nice change. Great atmosphere once you hit the home stretch and all the marshals out on course were fantastic. Medal, t-shirt, water, banana and flapjack all at the end. Would recommend for anyone near the area looking for a small town centre 10k.

The race was originally planned for end of september but due to bad weather it got cancelled last minute. I believe the course was flooded. This worked out well for me as I got chance to run the rescheduled race and I paced the 65 minute group. Race is an out an...

The race was originally planned for end of september but due to bad weather it got cancelled last minute. I believe the course was flooded. This worked out well for me as I got chance to run the rescheduled race and I paced the 65 minute group.

Race is an out and back through residential roads and a couple of parks. The parks were really nice to run through but pretty hilly, especially on the way back. Water station at the half way point and well martialled all the way around. Very supportive bunch!

Course was slightly short by my watch, maybe with the hills and a last minute change of route impacted this but all in all a good day and would love to go back and do it again in the future. Great t-shirt and medal for all finishers.

Very well supported route with a drinks station at 5km. Well organised and a great start and finish in the center of Preston. Be warned a lot of the route is on narrow paths and you do get a bit fed up of trying to get past other runners or alternatively feeling as though you are in the way of faster runners. Not great. The paths along the river ribble are 2 runners wide and alot of people choose to run 2 abreast with earphones in. Great goody bag at the finish with a nice t-shirt and medal along with soreen (which my wife pinched) Its a good event but because of the narrow paths I doubt i`ll be back. Organisers maybe look at an alternative route?

Had a great race through fishergate to start and then down to Winckley Square and through Avenham park, down the hill out of preston and run along a canal then back around up the killer hill of avenham park, back through winckley square and back down Friargate for a grandstand finish with lots of people cheering you on. Enjoyed it, parking it plentiful and lots of club runners there.
