First Castle Series event. Very well organised in a stunning setting. Tough course but very enjoyable and I am looking forward to Belvoir Castle in a few weeks. If I were to be picky I would say the concessions were not as good as they could have been and as I was leaving there were loads of athletes sitting by their cars drinking and eating so I feel this is an opportunity missed #lifestoshortforrubbishcoffee. Thank you again and see you at Belvoir Castle!

Thanks so much Tim for your review and well done on your race - definitely a tough course with those cheeky hills at the end! We are excited to see you at Belvoir! We agree - we unfortunately had our original coffee vendor drop out (through no fault of their own) and other concessions that couldn't make it last minute (including icecream!!) which would have been amazing in the heat!

another excellent Castle 'you can't pronounce' Race Series :-) Love the weekend camping, combine with a local parkrun to warm up the day before, pub walking distance so don't know what stalls were open in evening (Belvoir had pizza on the campsite) being Castle based expect some undulation and this didn't disappoint, the 14k cycle laps were better in my opinion than Belvoir's all out loop. The event base offered a lot, although felt quieter this year, some have mentioned the £8 fee, although no castle access, this years Blenheim was £31 spectators, so for everything offered, it's not crazy. Don't swim so a large event to offer Duathlon is a bonus. Organisers everytime manage to pull together multiple sports and distances in a calm and professional way,

Overall, it was a great event. They even arranged for the sun to shine! It was my first time participating in a Castle Race Series Event and the first time competing in a 'multisport series' style event. I was really impressed with the organisation and how effectively they managed the multiple events. The run was lovely, albeit tougher course than I had anticipated. The bike course was a similarly lovely undulating course on quiet country roads - I probably had 5 cars pass at most during the 3 laps. The only downside with the bike course was the cross-roads but this was fantastically managed by some very strong and brave marshals.

The tough run course is an excellent challenge! And the route around the castle grounds is simply beautiful. What a fabulous location to hold a race. Only gripe would be the bike course figure 8 where the route crossed over itself creating a rather iffy/dangerous crossing point: ...

The tough run course is an excellent challenge! And the route around the castle grounds is simply beautiful. What a fabulous location to hold a race. Only gripe would be the bike course figure 8 where the route crossed over itself creating a rather iffy/dangerous crossing point: I really felt for the marshals who had to keep everyone safe - they did this (credit to them) but I'm sure it wasn't necessary to have this potential crash zone on the b ike course. Saying that, the rest of the bike course was mostly traffic free and great to ride on (apart from a few potholes at the start of each lap!). Excellent organisation and great feel in the event village.

Very disappointed that Age group winners were not rewarded with some sort of prize, especially when there were prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd for triathlete’s. It looks like athletes in duathlons are second rated. We ALL have to do the training. I think there could have been a co...

Very disappointed that Age group winners were not rewarded with some sort of prize, especially when there were prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd for triathlete’s. It looks like athletes in duathlons are second rated. We ALL have to do the training. I think there could have been a couple of signs indicating a very sharp turn could have been placed early before the turning.

Such a shame there were no age group prizes ! As a 75 year old how could I possibly be expected to compete against 25 / 30 year olds. So so unfair ! We don’t want big prizes, only perhaps a gel, so we can stand on the podium a have a photo taken. I don’t think that’s asking a lot...

They let themselves down by not considering older athletes.

Excellent organisation. I am nervous taking part in something where there are so many races at once, but well organised and marshalled. Only complaints were needed a marshal at the junction by the feed station, and not enough portals for the numbers.
