The course was well planned and well marked, you got to see a large variety of the park. It was a good balance of flat land and hills making it a good course for beginners.

A very well organised event with regular updates leading up to the event providing timing and course updates. Course was well laid out, with marshals at regular intervals pointing you in the right direction and providing support! The drinks provided along the way and at the end along with the snacks were also a nice addition.

I'm knew to running this year so every race is a knew challenge. This was definitely one of my favourites. A staggered start would have helped as here was a bit of a bottle neck due to puddles! Couldn't be helped. Great fun and lovely people. Thank you

Extremely poor event. I have emailed the organisers to express my concerns including photos of myself running through what I can only describe as Chessingtonn's junk yard. The reply was as disappointing as the event itself. Myself and two friends travelled up from the south coast and for £25 each we were "treated" to a run past dismantled rides, mercury recyling tank, infectious/hygiene waste recycling bins and clinical waste bins. The 10km route took us through this area 4 times and quite frankly it is easily the worst race I have ever taken part in. There were no rides open on the day and we spent less than 5 minutes of the run actually going past animal enclosures. I'm amazed there aren't more angry people! Please do not waste your time or money.

Hi Debbie, we are sorry that you did not enjoy the event and thank you for expressing your concerns. Whilst there were a few bins visible on the route, it is challenging to find a 10km route that exclusively goes through the zoo areas due to the relatively small size of Chessington World of Adventures. We believe that the route offered a balance between running through a lot of park and zoo areas, without having too many laps. We have never advertised that any rides would be open on social media, and I emailed you personally, on the 1st August, to confirm that the rides would closed. SV, aat-events
ok, so I was disappointed by the fact no rides were open ...the park looked desolating, it was under refurbishment I guess...the back where the 10k route was going looked like a rubbish pit..it was awfully bad...it was dirty (and I am not talking about the mud). the views were awful, even running through the 'zoo' was awful. I did this to encourage my girls to run, and I think it worked, as they did the 2 km route, and got a medal. but overall as a running event, this is not value for money at all. the food available was horrible, no restaurants open until way after the finishing, early ..super early start meant the day was a pain...too early for a fun run..and why that if anyway the park was closed. the idea is to benefit from the rides..because as a zoo this is really disgraceful...I am sorry to say but advertisement is more than the event itself. I would come again if the girls want to...but 15 pounds for 2 km and nothing else is extortionate. create another route that does not go behind the filthy scenes of the park, create a route that does not loop so close to one another...and also make it clear to participants when the park is open and when it is not.

Hi Alina, we apologise that you were disappointed by the lack of rides, but it was never advertised that any rides would be open, and we consistently stated that entries only included admission to the zoo areas. The maintenance of rides is at the discretion of Chessington World of Adventures and is not information that is shared with us, as organisers of Chessington Running Wild. We will take your comments about the route onboard and discuss them in our debrief meeting. The 10K route did contain sections outside of the main park, but it is challenging to find a 10K route that exclusively goes through the zoo and theme park areas due to the limited size of the park. There was a restaurant serving food from 7am before all of the races started, so apologies if you didn’t manage to locate it. SV, aat-events
Great event and well organised. I particularly liked the fact that there was a big restaurant open and serving food and drinks prior to the event and the fact you had access to the zoo after. The route was amazing and my pace was not inhibited by the fact it was around a zoo rather than on wide roads. I will definately do it again.
