Another great event by FCR and a fantastic way to start off the new year. Price is reasonable for a half and the information leading up the event was useful but not over the top.

On the day parking was available a short distance away from race hq. Bib collection was nice and straight forward in the school hall and portaloos had been set up just outside. As always there was a queue for these but that's always to be expected. The start being right next to the car park was nice as it meant being able to stay warm in your car until just before the start. Great atmosphere at the start, I think we were all just grateful that no more restrictions had come in meaning that we still got to race still. Short pre-race briefing which I could just about hear, then we were off!

Course was a lovely loop of country roads, never once felt boring and some nice views. Not much in terms of crowd support but to be expected, especially in January. Course was mostly flat with a few little inclines thrown in there for good measure. The two water stations were well stocked and the marshals out on course were very friendly. Lead up to the finish was good with plenty of cheers as you went by. Medal, as to be expected from FCR, was fantastic and water was also available.

Love FCR events and will definitely be doing more in the future.

Great way to start the new year.  Good course, few hills but PB potential.  Free car park was easy to locate and registration was straight forward.

Plenty of toilet facilities for a field of this size approx 450.

The only downside to this event was the the traffic and some impatient drivers cutting runners up as the race was on open roads.

This way my first race event of the year!

The car park was well sign posted and there was plenty of parking spaces availvld close to the start and finish line.

I found registration was straight forward and organised and there was plenty of facilities available too.

The route was fairly flat with a few hills, plenty of signs on the twists and turns, the marshals were very supportive and great.

The only negative was marshals letting cars cutting through the runners during the race.
Understandable it wasn’t a closed road race but the marshall’s should have waited for adequate gaps rather than slow the runners to let cars pass.

The medal was great to would definitely do this race event again.

Fantastic medal at the end which makes it all worthwhile though just wish they would address the closed roads for next year

This way my first race event of the year so was really looking forward to it.

The drive up from Warrington was good and the car park was well sign posted and there was plenty of parking spaces.

I found registration excellent and straight forward and there was plenty of toilets.

  1. The race started at 10.00 and the route was fairly flat with a few hills and the marshals were outstanding and very supportive.

The only draw back was cars cutting the runners up.
I understand it not a closed race route but the race organiser really need to address the issue for next year race event.

It was really nice to catch up with the racecheck gang too.

The medal was awesome to would definitely do this race event again.

Second year I have done this race an I was asked to pace the 2.15 group. This was the first half marathon I have paced and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately I was seriously ill the night before but still fought my way around on race day bringing it home in just over 2.14! The race is still a touch long, maybe its the hills that add to the distance, which made it a bit trickier to pace. Its a great way to start a year of races, a real challenge. Also well supported by the racecheck community. Maybe see you next year for a third go at it!

A small race that is well worth the effort to get to. A flat-ish course that was quick enough for me to be able to get a pb. Takes place on open roads and at times I didn't feel as safe as I would have liked with cars cutting runners up because they couldn't hold on for a few seconds. Not really down to the organisers and it is what it is but road closures or one way would really help. Water stations were at 4 and 9 miles with bottles of water no option for cups. As the race is very rural there's not a huge amount of support around the course. There were probably only around 50 or so people out supporting across the course/ The finish is very tight with a sharp turn in the last 10 meters, I realise that the race finishes in the school and you need to be able to get in there but approaching the funnel was very tight. The start could of been 50 meters back and there would have been no need for the turn on the finish. At the end of the race I was given a bottle of water and a huge medal.

Great event to start of the year with, registration was quick and easy done at Race HQ off to the start we went. Nice route along the country roads, water at mile 4 & 9 then cross the finish to receive great medal, chocolate bar and drink. Only downside of this race is the open roads, its dangerous at times with cars cutting you up to get past with cars coming the opposite way too. Some drivers are complete idiots which is no fault of the race organisers but maybe next year they could see if roads could be closed or at least made one way.

A cheap and cheerful half to startthe year off with. Registration was easy and obtaining number even easier. Personally I was a bit late and pretty much arrived at the start as the gun went off!! The route was quick and allowed for a PB (i got oke which was decent) Finish was a little tight as it ended near the school ans rhe lanes were spilt for traffic and runners. (This was the case for the whole riute but tighter on the finnish straight) All in all a decent first half for the year topped off with a cracking medal. Its massive!!
