Excellent event overall, great organisation and marshalling, the sportive nature made it a lot of fun and the point to point means you just have to keep going! Good swim, lovely setting at Dorney Lake, good ride, excellent signposting, 1000m of climbing but nothing too severe, then the “run”. More like uphill cross country survival orienteering 😳 and let’s not ever mention the steps 😂. Toughest event I have ever done because of the run or in my case jog, walk, jog, crawl… Will probably go back next year when I have recovered.

This was my first time at this distance and I was very excited but apprehensive too. Overall, it was well-organised in terms of communication, course marking and availability of the food stations. All the marshals were encouraging, polite and friendly. The major downside was that there were no gluten free sweet or savoury snacks at ANY of the food stations (sweets don’t count as they offer insufficient nutrition). I had taken only one sandwich because I had assumed there would be gluten free food available. Although I had electrolytes in my drinks and some energy bars, these were insufficient. I managed to complete the event but ended up in the medical tent for an hour and a half with low sugar and subsequent low blood pressure. I feel that if I had been able to access better nutrition at the food stations, I would not have been so poorly at the end. The medical care I received was excellent. I made contact with Full Steam event to give feedback about the lack of gluten free food at the stations and they did acknowledge that they hadn’t got that part right. Hopefully, they will improve this next year. The run was spectacular with absolutely stunning views; it was utterly brutal though (and I had done hill training!). I would recommend this event as there is no pressure during transitions and you can give yourself permission to walk on the run!

My first middle distance Tri and thoroughly enjoyed it. Swim lake was nice and facilities where great. Really enjoyed the cycle route which was very well marked out. Run was brutal for me and would recommend anyone training up and down hills and especially fit in some steps work as they are very tough later on in the run. Beautifully scenary on the bike and run and enjoyed the finish which is interesting as you weave in and out of the various stag and hen do's which are crossing the promenade. Would definitely recommend this event and think the organiers do a fantastic job

Wow- what an event! This was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Although it’s fair to say the run ( and when I say run I mean walk, scramble, shuffle) was a quite brutal. Event staff were helpful and encouraging and able to help with every minor mishap from the get-go. The swim had a lovely relaxed rolling start so all nerves evaporated . As this was a relaxed event you could comfortably get changed before starting in the beautiful bike course. The bike course had a little bit of everything town, villages , countryside , cows, undulations , a hill or two , traffic lights and railway crossings. Although had this been a competitive event the later two may have made for frayed nerves but actually just encouraged chat among riders. The aid stations and transition 2 were well stocked and manned with great marshals. As previously mentioned the run was not easy but I loved it. The challenging countryside, more cows, Brighton and Hove Albion stadium , golf courses , Downs and woods meant you were never bored with the scenery. In fact the worst part of the course was the last k’s along Brighton seafront which was so, so busy. With the heat, and smells and sheer amount of people it was not the most pleasant of running experiences - however I feel I ingested a large amount of second hand not tobacco smoke that I was quite mellow at the end! One minor disadvantage was although bottled water was provided at the finish- there was no other type of drinks available to purchase. I was longing for a coke. A good medal, excellent race photos available off the organiser website, and fabulous food at the end made this one of my top 5 all time events! My only criticism is - an ice-cream van would have been most welcome at the end.

The marking out of the cycle and run courses was very good. No need for navigational aids (fortunately). The swim was lovely. Very well organized throughout. I'll be back next year!

I love this event. I have done it twice now and marshalled it the year in between. It is so chilled, but gives you valuable experience for packing different coloured bags, transitions and dealing with longer distances. I'll be back for more in 2025.

Great course, communication and well marked. Thought the organisation and staff/volunteers were the best I have seen at such an event. Course was interesting and a beautiful (and tough) run section. Would encourage organisers not to use single use bags for the kit vans (and have a beer tent at the finish!). Great event and highly recommend!

What an outstanding event. I always consider carefully where I'm going to be spending my money and on which events... I'll be signing up for next year. From start to finish, admin to comms Fullsteam delivered A+++. Spectacular route, amazing volunteers and staff and incredible challenge. Relaxed transitions and great atmosphere throughout. The only flat bit is the swim, so get your bike training topped up. This event was my first triathlon and can recommend to anyone thinking they fancy dipping their toe into multi-discipline sport events without having to worry about the many rules and specific kit demands of a competitive triathlon. You won't regret investigating your time and hard earned money in Castle to Coast.
