I don't think the organizers were prepared for rain despite the fact that it has been unseasonably rainy for a month leading up to the event. Everyone was very friendly and the marshals around the course were amazing, but when I asked for a dry spot to await my transition entry time I was greeted with blank stares, and even if you found a dry spot under a coffee tent athletes were being forced to head into transition an hour prior to the race which meant standing in the rain for an hour. Many folks were huddled in the tiny and unsuitable changing tents for some reprieve.

A tough course, especially the bike. Conditions were awful which was a real shame. However, a well organised and very scenic event.

Generally great event & obviously lots of effort gone into organisation & safety of athletes. Bike course is particularly tough. My daughter won the ladies category and got a lovely trophy. I won the V50 category would have been nice to get something for that!

Castle Howard is a scenic location for a duathlon, however the course is tough and it’s expensive for athletes and spectators. The roads aren’t closed during the bike route which can make it dodgy at junctions and at the roundabout at the start and finish of the bike leg. There was a marshall at each junction and it was well signposted compared to other duathlons that I have done. The car park is all in a grass field and our friend’s van got stuck, they were instructed to park in a particular area of the field instead of where the cars were parked which was a bad idea as it was lower and became more waterlogged.

It's great you enjoyed the event. We're sometimes at the mercy of the weather in our parking but always provide support to any vehicles that may find themselves stuck in the mud!

Middle Distance Duathalon, was tough, i would use a road bike with tri bars next time with a lower gearing abd not my TT bike loved the Run, much beter than running on roads. the camp site was good, nice and quite i will be back!
