I was in the standard Aquabike. Overall a very disappointing day. Obviously nobody could help the weather but I felt like I had paid a lot of money just to go for a swim. I was aware that I would not get a refund or credit but that in no way lessened the disappointment. The condition of the lake was poor. Muddy, too many weeds and smelly although again I understand the rain may have affected it. Although it didn't matter in the end since the ride was cancelled, I was initially dismayed to find out from the briefing video that transition was 600 metres from the lake. The whole reason I do the aquabike is because I can't run. I have really bad hips. Having a transition so far from the lake defeats the purpose of the aquabike for me. The whole process was very stressful. It was difficult knowing where to go and some staff were very unhelpful if downright rude. Overall it was not a happy experience and I ended up paying a lot of money for the privilege. I felt the organisation are more interested in milking every last pound out of people rather than actually providing a good experience.

The weather obviously impacted the event and it was totally the right call to pull the bike section. This left me with just the swim which as those that have swim there before will testify it’s not the nicest in the water but it is what it is! The only disappointment is my time...

This left me with just the swim which as those that have swim there before will testify it’s not the nicest in the water but it is what it is! The only disappointment is my time hasn’t registered at all on the timing sheet??? Whilst not at the sharp end it would have been nice to know

I did the Aquabike Sprint at Castle Howard. I was super impressed with the organisation and how many events they managed to run concurrently without it feeling cramped or overwhelming at all. It was a wet and soggy day but we were quickly underway. The 750m swim was in a lake, with a good temperature but it was quite shallow and weedy. However it's all good practice! Out of the water and a quick 600m back up to transition for the bike leg. The bike course was a pretty hilly 23k, well signposted and plenty of marshalls on route, with a water station half way. Good wide roads and pretty surroundings made the bike enjoyable (even in the rain!) and it was fun and varied loop. I chose to run through the finishing funnel at the end for a dramatic finish but there was an option for a low key medal ceremony in transition too. A great choice for beginners with a wide range of experience and speeds in the participants- I'd happily do it again :)

The pre-race communication and price promised a well run event and the weekend lived up to the expectation. Although the Aquabike wasn't the biggest race, having hundreds of competitors in all sorts of races made it a brilliant event to be part of. Our extended family competed in four different events that suited our different abilities, making it a fantastic weekend. The Aquabike was efficiently organised, I really appreciated the video briefings and on the day all the info we needed was easily available. The swim was fine, despite fears about the muddy lake! The only difficulty I found was sticking to the no drafting rule, as the narrow channel on legs 1 and 3 made it tricky to avoid a tow from other swimmers. My swim time was excellent. though... The bike route is gorgeous, a breezy, sunny day in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, in the middle of harvest season is about as good a location as I can imagine. Finishing the Aquabike in transition is a slight anti climax, and I felt disconnected from all the other competitors finishing with the music, cheers and the congratulations of the MC. I appreciated the chance of a 'Glory Run' over the finish line, but it's not the same. The post race atmosphere was great, lots of spectators, music, prizes being awarded, competitors finishing, and the event staff were brilliant, very helpful, they played a major part in making the day feel so good. Because the event was so well run, it's churlish to be critical, so there are just a couple of things I missed, maybe these could be better signposted next time. Was there a goody bag? Because we cycled in and out, we didn't use the car park, did we miss out? Maybe I missed the signs but I couldn't see recycling bins so all our post race rubbish went in one bin, it would be preferable to separate it out. Thanks for a great event.

Well marked course. Good marshaling. It would have been nice to have a proper finish line to cross, rather than just the entry to transition. £10 to spectate is pricey!

Spectators have to pay a lot to get in. Lovely views.

Unfortunately this race and the swim yesterdY has been spolied by two things - firstly a very poor / smelly swim , probably the worst I have done over the last 10 years. Secondly the timing for both th the swim yesterday ( when my time was not registered and then later declared as a winning time) and today when at 7.22 in the evening I cannot see the Aquabike standard times\

The Castle events are great but this event and the timing are a real let down and well below the standards I expect - I will now probably look for other events which are more certain of their organisation
