more volunteers on the bike route perhaps it was very hot and I am sure that made it difficult to get enough volunteers I thought the race staff present were fantastic and the setting for the race was excellent

Main issue with this is this was my sixth year doing this in a row. Definitely as my in the email I sent yesterday. The turnaround at 3 km was confusing to people and that took away my overall third place by having someone who turned around early place ahead of myself and one other overall female. I think that was confusing and there needs to be a math there or someone there to voice to them that if they’re doing the sprint, they need to keep going. there is no way that that person that got second was really second. She did not run a 520 pace and she never passed me or the other women on the run as I’m very cognizant of how many people were ahead of me at the turnaround and I know for a fact, no woman ran past me at five minute 20 second mile pace. She was behind us the whole way based on her swim and bike time.

They banned any stroke on your back with the only advanced notice being the day of. Nothing was listed on their website or said during the pre race talk the night before. I get why it was banned, but the lack of advanced notice was ridiculous as this is not a standard thing to ban in triathlons. Most of the lifeguards were godsends as I was very unprepared for the swim. One lifeguard, however, was very demeaning. It was my first open water swim and I was struggling to adjust (an oversight on my part to not come prepared). A lifeguard kept telling me to “just put your face in the water” and tried to teach me how to swim. I was borderline hyperventilating and almost lost it on her. That’s the last thing someone needs in that moment. Aid stations were lacking. The run had a good amount, but there were none after the swim and none on the bike. Their website outlines exactly where the aid stations are so this wasn’t a surprise, but still a let down.

This is our favorite triathlon of the year. Perfect little overnight get away. There is hotel, campground, and restaurant right around the transition area. Park and race. Beautiful lake and scenic run. Awesome race.
