Well supported run but so busy. Running in a pack from start to finish and queue for bag drop was huge as you pass through some security tables. No where near enough toilets at the start, men and women having to use the bushes near the bag drop. Long queues at the finish for medals and finisher shirt. It was enjoyable but not one of you prefer a smaller more intimate feel. Great scenery on the route though.

Absolutely brillliant. The whole weekend, including visiting the race village the day before, had such a ‘big event’ feel. Great organisation, great course. First time under 2 hours. Could not have gone any better.

Firstly the good - the medal, brilliant, the volunteers, fantastic, the start area by the castle, pretty awesome. The bad - the course, for me just boring, the "event village" for me is not fitting of a Superhalf, the other events have a lot more to them and have running expo's to set them apart from just being another race. Wasn't impressed with the t-shirt, and if I'm honest the whole event just felt a bit sub par for the standing that the event is classed in. Also... definitely not a flat course by any means despite the advertising as being a flat and fast one.

Cardiff half was a wonderful race. It was really well organised and well marshalled. The start is lovely by the castle and with the flames. The course is mainly flat and the section by the bay is beautiful. The support from the crowd was excellent, even on a grey day there were loads of people out and they cheered for everyone, which was really appreciated. Lovely medal at the end too! No goody bag as such, but you get to pick up bits you want at the end instead. The only suggestion I have is more toilets at the start/finish, as there weren't that many and they had giant queues. Other than that, perfect race.

One of my favourites, I signed up again straight away for a 3rd time though I'm not local to Wales. Its a really good course, although I had forgotten those few hills! Love the route with city start and finish with Cardiff Bay being a highlight too. The most memorable thing is the local crowd support - they are really behind the organisers and runners. I know they have a staggered start but there were still a few bottlenecks along the route. The event has definitely grown is you can tell it's a lot bigger than it used to be by the sheer traffic trying to leave the area. Wish there were better early morning train connections to make it more sustainable.

Well organised event that gets lots of support around the entire route. Fairly flat although there are a couple of inclines but nothing that's not runnable. Volunteers were friendly and helpful. There's no goody bag as such but when you finish you collect your medal and optional t-shirt. Then there are a range of snacks, water and fruit to choose from which you can either take or leave. Well stocked so there's enough for everyone.

Starting by Cardiff Castle, out past the Cardiff City stadium to Penarth, over the barrage, skirting the city centre and up to Roath park, around the lake and back to near where it started. The crowd support was outstanding. I will definitely be back.

Have run this race about 4 times now and it is by far my favourite half marathon route I've done. The crowds are fantastic and the atmosphere is brilliant every year.

A fantastic half marathon in my home city. Always enjoyable. The organisers and the city put on a big party. The course is all on closed roads. Starting by the castle, it first heads out of the city, past the Cardiff City stadium and on to Penarth marina in the Vale of Glamorgan. A short run over the barrage and you’re back in Cardiff, going past the Senedd and the Millennium Centre. From there, it’s up to Penylan, around Roath Park lake, up a short steep hill (an unwelcome surprise for many first timers) and then back to the centre to finish. Locals line the route, offering more jelly babies etc than you could eat. The route is also great for supporters. They can see you off at the start, wander over to Newport Road to catch you mid-race, and be back at the finish line before you. At the finish, there is an event village outside City Hall and the museum. I’m biased, but would heartily recommend it!
