They should rename this event The Benny Hill 10K Classic. The previous reviews for this years event are spot on.  If I hadn't made up my own route and ignored the race directors and race Marshall's directions I could have still been running now. They handed a women the ladies trophy who finished just in front of me who had clearly not been first. There was a lady a clear half lap ahead of me who passed me going the other direction starting her 4th lap because no one stopped her who should have won it

Bromley 10k. Or rather.... More 10.5k and would have been more if I didn't use my common sense. It was almost a random almost make it up yourself route  🤷 the female winner did 7 miles 😆😆😆

Negatives: the organisers had no idea what they were doing and changed the course and sent everyone in different and nonsensical illogical and insane directions and loops. No idea who anyone was racing because everyone was at different stages and everyone had done different routes and distances because the marshalls were telling everyone to do random and wrong routes. Stupid email sent a few days before saying trail shoes are recommended but they should be clean for the track. All this for a tarmac course......

Positives: got 8 laps around a running track and I loved that before going out onto the park. And the bits that I was running I enjoyed where I didn't have to debate the directions with the well meaning but clueless marshalls. .

Recommendation: avoid this 'organiser'

This was, without exception, the worst running event I've ever participated in. From the delayed start - due to what was a late and unnecessary change of route - to the shambolic course - which may genuinely have been getting made up on the spot - to the underwhelming finish, this was a total shambles.

Nobody, including the marshalls, seemed to know where we were supposed to run. I followed their directions and instructions as best I could but crossed the line having run only five and a half miles.

The man who seemed to be in charge of this car crash told me at the end that the course was changed due to 'forty feet of snow' on one part of the path and that 'only the more elite' runners would have managed it. He said anyone getting round in over fortty minutes would have struggled. Untrue. What about the 744 parkrunners who ran the same path yesterday morning? He added that 'everyone ran 9.7 kilometres.' Also untrue.

Utter chaos. I feel disappointed, frustrated and very annoyed.

Where do I start with this momumental clustermuck of an event? Leading up to the event they had the cheek to send everyone an email warning us to wear CLEAN shoes so as to not dirty the track (despite knowing full well most of the course is through ankle deep mud). We were to be ready for a 10am start. We were waiting around for 15 minutes in the freezing cold with no communication for the delay.

The some old guy orders everyone over to the opposite side of the track for the start. No mic. just some guy barking vague instructions and all of a sudden he shouts 'Go'. Not sure if this guy is the organiser but it seemed like they just pulled him out the pub. 

Was supposed to be 2 laps of the track and 4 laps of Norman Park. This was then changed to "8 laps of the track and 4 laps of the park!" Only that we wouldn't be going round the park fully but turning half way and come back on ourselves.  Confused yet? All the runners certainly were. It ended up being 2 'laps' of the park as opposed to 4.

The marshalls were giving conflicting information. One look at the flybys on Strava and you see people going in various directions. It appears MCC Promotions were making this up on the hoof. 

This will be my LAST event I race that's held by MCC Promotions. Always looked forward to supporting local events but not if it's held by this outfit. Shambles was a word I head multiple times today. I have to say that's being kind.

At the finish "line" (which came in at 9.5k for me), there was a bland medal, but no nutrition available. Would it hurt to hand out a 12p banana?

Will be avoid this one in future.
