My third consecutive year and the run course greatly improved for me the only wheelchair entrant. All concrete smooth surface for the run now ... EXCELLENT! I must thank the organisers for keeping me in mind and helping wherever needed, such as lifting from the water back to the prom into my day chair. I needed no other help at all. Fantastic atmosphere of a big event with cheering crowds all round. This is certainly one of my events for next year SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER 2026 I'll aim to be first to book the Standard Tri'. Absolutely loved the whole day.

This was my first ever triathlon and I had a brilliant time. Hoping to enter again next year. Communication was good, both in advance and on the day and organisers were friendly and gave support throughout the race. Course was nice and flat. Really enjoyed the swim. Run course was also good, albeit quite a lot of turns, but was grateful there were 2 public showers that I could sacrifice a few seconds to use en route as it was pretty hot! The volunteers were fantastic at the aid stations and on the run course/ transitions - they kept me going on the run leg when I'd really run out of steam 🙏 Love the t-shirt and bag we got with our race pack- they seem good quality and I like the branding! Only feedback for next year is that we could have done with one or two more toilets in the transition area instead of the main area, as there was quite a wait for the toilets before the race and didn't want to have to venture into the main area for those.

A brilliant event from start to finish. Great attention to detail, including the race pack, the registration process with a pre-event bag for each competitor, the transition set up with named spaces and kit boxes, and the finish area (with deckchairs to recover in!). Brighton & Hove was my fourth triathlon and this one was by far my favourite. It was such a friendly, safe and well-organised event in the fab setting of Hove seafront. I loved all of it, particularly running through the finish ribbon at the end!

It was my first triathlon in the sea, despite completed two half distance in the lakes before. I was very nervous whenever I thought of it and could not sleep the night before. However after I observed several waves before I started I was quite sure I should be in good hands, and yes indeed. I enjoy my sea swim and am looking for more in the future.

Swim was a mess. Started in one of the later waves (not sure about the first ones) and it was unbelievably difficult. Organizers failed to adjust buoys positioning as they have drifted a lot. Everyone in our wave ended up swimming way more than 1.5km. Some even clocked up to 2.6km, which is crazy. This added at least extra 30mins to most participants’ times. Everyone came out of the swim absolutely gassed as in most cases it took more than 1h to complete. Subsequently, some participants had to cut bike leg short, because the road had to be opened. Other than the swim, bike and run were flat and fast - great experience there.

7th triathlon: 4th standard, 2nd sea swim, Atmosphere was great - the people on the day were great, the majority of staff were fabulous. The water stations were great and 90& of volunteers on the run , especially police cadets were a delight. And people weren't all packed up when you finish (as a slow standard this is a thing!) Registration: Staff were friendly, help section were very helpful as I had a query around an access and support. Bag: Plastic water bottle, but in a 'recycled bag', one gel, one soluble hydration sachet, Finishers t shirt - felt like tempting fate to give it us before hand - and the usual bag full of adverts. Note for women: 'Unisex' t - Shirts (male fit) with gendered sizing (4 = men small, women's medium) - very confusing, either do unisex sizing (which defaults male) - or gendered, and actually provided a product shaped to women's bodies. The bag was massive, and had a weird hook across your chest - that works if you don't have breasts. Transition: couldn't suss out why my row had orange boxes and everyone else had green. The box was a strange extra stress - everything has to be in your box or disqualified - given there isn't usually a box, this was new. Briefing: Couldn't hear half of it - had ear plugs. The carpet wasn't into the sea (which only a problem if you have access needs) and no helpers on entrance around. Swim: The helpers on the swim exit, were great, there was one spot where i almost swam the wrong way - I was told many times there would be people if i went off course, but heard of many people who did. on the more important turn - there was no-one there at all. But I always felt safe. A buoy deflated and that was very confusing. I echo James' sentiment. My fourth standard distance and due to the current was in an extra hour than my normal swim time. My partner witnessed many people coming out say it was a hard swim, many rescues and a few vomits, all while waiting the extra hour. Those at the end were swimming against the current (which they did know in advance) and were the ones limited by the bike and run being shut early. I lady on the run said last year it took her 40min and this year 1hr 40 to do swim. Transition: Great - water, really great, especially after a sea swim. Clear signage - really important to me as a neurodivergent. Bike: Bit different to normal, just straight onto the road, nice to run on grass in cleats. Staff remembered how many laps i was supposed to do when i asked. Again helpful. Got a puncture from glass on the road. Many many stewards away from the main area just sat on the floor and ignoring the pedestrians who just walked into the road. Stewards apart from by the event area or turning points- were disengaged, and mostly ignoring all the dangerous public. Bike was also cut short for many- one lap warning given. Run: The stewards were lovely on this section, engaged and into it. They made what was a brutal experience amazing. The sun was hot and the swim had been tough, but their energy levels were up. The police cadets (who must have been scorching in their full uniform) were a delight. Finish: great final touch of having the ribbon for all of us - even us slow folks! Medal: I've had better, didn't even have the year on it - disappointing. My fav is still Windsor triathlon medal, or the bananaman triathlon :-) Every effort was made to ensure everyone was safe - but I've never almost been cut off before. Makes people who aren't the speediest wary of signing up. The event has put me off sea swims - even though i'd completed one before and had no issue. But too many variables weren't considered. Advertised as street parking - there was none. They were very accommodating with health needs though.

Great atmosphere. Well organised. Felt safe in the sea despite very strong currents as I could always see sea safety. Would love to see more build up on their social media leading up to the event.

The flattest triathlon I have done, with a strong tide in the swim.
