A good fast course and a really fun day out with multiple events on the weekend. Excellent transport options and a beautiful place for an event.

What an incredible event. I loved every second of it. BHM was fantastic, the organisation at the start was so well done. The water stations had tiny bottles of water that were easy to grab, drink and throw in the bins close by that were specifically for that - to keep the route nice and tidy. This was similar to the london half water stations which is a HUGE love of mine, so much easier than big bottles that are mostly wasted or poxy cups that are a nightmare to run with. The route was lush, a few loops which I normally hate but felt really easy, the 'hill' at mile 8 really isn't much of a hill, but where I live is very hilly so it was a walk in the park for me. A huge PB potential route (I took 6 minutes off my PB, my mum took 11 minutes off hers and my friend took 2 minutes off his) so this is a race well worth doing. A nice t-shirt at the end and a METAL medal which was fantastic. There are huge amounts of support on the entire route which makes a race so much easier, especially since people say your name as it's on your bib. There was a band half way around which was a nice boost. The drop off to the start instructions were a bit confusing as with the roads being closed we had to pre plan our route there the night before, but realised you can get there through the road closers to drop off but do which they'd put that slightly more clear as it caused a bit of stress to say the least. The end was a bit of a slog to get through to get the goodies at the end, but i finished in the masses time, if you're a bit faster or slower it's probably not as bad. Make sure you have a meeting place for your friends/family as there is no signal due to the volume of people there. I will suggest everyone does this race, thanks run bournmouth for making it such a memorial event, don't ever change!

A fantastic half marathon with just one decent climb at 8 miles to break it up! Apart from that the course is flat and fast and would be quick on the right day with low wind! Highly recommended and the course is beautiful along the beach!

First time visit here and I'll definitely return. The bus to take you to the start is a great idea and there is one to take you back after to other parts of the city (all paid for up front). I was about 2 mins late getting there as the last bus was stuck in traffic but being a non elite runner it wasn't a problem.

One piece of advice, if using the bus service provided get there early than 9 (they say no later than 9.15 but that's too late) and you will be fine.

Marshal's were great and so was the local support!! Good half marathon to make a weekend of it if not local!

This was my second time doing Bournemouth Marathon, I did this back in 2016 and I thought I would give it another go. The route is very scenic and lovely views. The weather seemed to be cooler than when I did it in 2016, there was a cool breeze and at times it was windy. There is good crowd support by Bournemouth Pier but parts of the course does seem to lack crowd support.

There appeared to be a lot of sand when running on the prom which made it difficult for running on. The marshalls were great and very encouraging. The water stations were around every 3 miles and there was also energy gel stations. The marathon runners have to run through the finish line around 17 miles but you have to run another 9 miles to the finish which is hard going. The finishers medal was really good and you get a few goodies.

Turns it out this was to be the last ever Bournemouth Marathon.

Real shame as it's a lovely event but I can understand the logistics issues and it did get crowded running down on the seafront in the second half of the race.

This is the second time I ran the bournemouth marathon. I love running by the sea. It is a very well organised race from start to finish. The buses to take you to the start were on time and after a 10 minute journey from the the pier you are there. Bag drop, loos etc are all clearly marked. There are plenty of loos which is a good thing. Apart from going through the finish line at mile 17 the course is great with plenty of opportunity to run along the piers and the promenades. The support was fantastic and the finish line was a welcome sight. I would recommend this race but unfortunately they have cancelled it and are only doing the half.

My hometown race! About 6 miles around residential roads/clifftop before you get down onto the prom. One nasty hill at 9 miles then the rest is ok. You get to run along both Boscombe and Bournemouth piers. T shirt and medal. This has always started at 8am but next year they are dropping the marathon and it’s pushed back to 10. Not ideal as even though it’s October it’s always a warm one.

Great local support for a course with fantastic views. The downside of seaside routes is the wind, though!
