This was my first backyard ultra and I went in not knowing what to expect but I really enjoyed it. I managed to run 11 laps which is further than I thought. The pre race comms was great. Often race companies spam you but there was the perfect amount of information. To be honest, I’m not sure how the event makes much money at all and I spent a lot of time wondering how they do it..! It’s so nicely organised and set up with really friendly people. The course was a good challenge especially with the addition of the weather. I will run this again next year as I think I can make it to nightfall. I loved getting a medal and badge at the end too. I know not everyone is bothered about that but I liked it. Lovely volunteers and just a lovely day . Thankyou

Thanks so much for your kind review Marie! The Backyard Ultra is a big event - especially for us as a small events company. We absolutely love organising it, and we always meet the best people, so it's not about making money for us, we do it because we enjoy it. We are ridiculously proud of our awesome run crew, and we love working in The Candovers, so it's a winner all round. We would love to see you again next year and see how many laps you can achieve!

Thanks Harry! We worked hard in the weeks leading up to the event to create a sense of community between the runners, we love seeing people supporting each other on the course. Backyard Ultras are tough events, and not meant to be easy by any stretch but the weather took care of that aspect for us. Thanks for joining us.

First back yard ultra and it didn’t disappoint, despite the weather Ollie and the team managed to reroute the course in time for the start. Friendly and welcoming not just for the runners but for the supporters too. I will be back, would recommend anyone to have a go.

Thanks Lee! We had anticipated the bad weather and we're so lucky to have an alternative option for the course. We're glad you found it friendly and welcoming and would love for more people to come and give it a go. See you next year!

As a first timer I didn't know what to expect, but everything from sign up to execution was great. I loved the sustainability aspect from recycling to the beautiful wooden medals, and the enthusiastic support from marshals and race directors was great too. Fabulous to see a few ladies out there, and hopefully more will come in future events - if you're reading this and wondering if you 'can do it' then yes, you can! There is fabulous support however many yards you manage, and the runners were all positive, inclusive and friendly. Highly recommend Blended.

This is such a lovely review, Rachel, thank you! We are really, really keen to encourage more women to come and give this event a go, and, in addition to bringing crew for support, we try to support all runners as much as possible. We pride ourselves on a high set of standards to keep our events female-friendly so please spread the word. We are so glad you had a great time and liked your medal. Hopefully we'll see you again!

Thanks, Jonathan! It's hard to beat The Candovers in terms of location; it's a stunning spot. Maybe next year we'll get some sunshine so everyone can properly enjoy the views!

This was my third Backyard Ultra and my second time at this event, and once again it was an excellent experience. The organisation is brilliant, with clear instructions throughout that make everything run smoothly from start to finish. The course is undulating and is noticeable the deeper you get into the race. The staff and volunteers deserve special mention—they’re fantastic, supportive, and always encouraging, creating a really positive atmosphere. The only improvement I’d suggest is adding another couple of portable toilets - there were more in 2024 in fairness. Overall, I’d highly recommend this, particularly if you’re considering it as a first Backyard Ultra. It’s a very friendly and welcoming event with an encouraging community that makes newcomers feel right at home. I’ll be giving it another go

It was great to see you again, Graeme, thank you so much for joining us again. We are so glad to hear it was positive for you and that you would do it again! We are very mindful of creating a supportive and welcoming atmosphere because we believe in breaking down barriers that may prevent people from attending events like these. Next year, we will definitely add more toilets!

Thanks, Robin! That's very kind of you - it's a big event for us and takes a lot of work, but it's worth it to get reviews like this and see runners achieving great things at The Backyard Ultra.

My first BYU and will be returning as I have unfinished business with the course. The horrendous weather didn't dampen anyone's spirts on the day. Ollie and his team were amazing throughout. Amazing communication leading up to the race including photos an videos of the course - a sudden change of route was handled with excellent communication. The day was amazing and loved every moment. Only slight negative was only 2 toilets. Would highly recommend to runners of all distances. Amazing event and cant wait until next year - 24 hours here I come!

You completed an incredible distance Sam! But we also love to hear that you will be back to try for 24 hours of running. The weather made the course this year extra challenging and we've been blown away by how many people embraced it. We've noted the toilets and will get more for next year!

An awesome event, I would highly recommend it. Brilliantly organised with some incredible and enthusiastic volunteers. A lovely route which was made difficult by the challenging conditions. My only criticism would be that there weren't enough portaloos in the camp.

Thanks, Paul! Our volunteers and crew really are in a league of their own. We are so lucky to have them, and they are a huge part of what makes Blended Trails a successful and welcoming running community. We're so glad you had a good experience and we've noted the toilets - we will have more next year.

My first back yard ultra and definitely will be trying one again! The event was organised well and everyone was lovely and very welcoming! We fell unlucky with the weather sadly but that did not stop the great atmosphere. Thank you everyone for making it such a great experience!
