Fylde races certainly are value for money. Parking not too far away and enjoying the view on the sun going down before the race was fab. The course goes along and down onto the promenade alongside the beach. This is very flat and fast for 5k. There is a slight uphill and the promenade when you come back is bumpy and not as flat (they sell the course as flat and fast) but it's fab. As you are coming back along the top road/promenade it's just getting dark enough to see the illuminations they have put on just for the race.
The only real negative was because there were a huge number doing both the 5k and 10k there was just a huge pile in, no separate pens. This meant that I spent much of the first 3-4k overtaking people. The first 1k was crammed and difficult to overtake.

This was a great little race and really well organised. Fcr did well with the pace setters all hitting their times to allow runners to hit their goals. The weather was exceptional sunset then the illuminations backdrop was unique. The medal was brilliant and lit up in the dark. The only problem was that a minority of runners seemed to sign up for the wrong distance which screwed up finishing times and formal presentations to the winners. Fcr were happy to sort out the problem over the next couple of days to provide accurate finishing times and position. Will definitely do again and great value for money.

First time doing the illuminations 10K.
Registration was super easy, numbers could be picked up from race HQ opposite the Hilton in Blackpool. Unfortunately for me, my race number had been misplaced but this was easily and quickly sorted out.
I was there early to collect my number, and enjoyed the atmosphere and seeing all the runners in funky tutus, covered in glow sticks.
The race marshals were great and constantly encouraging, calling people's names and clapping runners along all the way throughout the course.
The course split off at approximately 2.5-3k for those doing the 5k option, with the 10K runners continuing on for a little while before looping back. The run is as flat as a pancake, and incredibly enjoyable, especially because the lights had been switched on purely for this event!
The medal at the end was also one of a kind, just like the event.
Definitely a race I'd do again, and would highly recommend.

What a fantastic event! I've heard lots of good things about the FCR events so was pleased they lived up to their billing. The event was well organised and marshalled, excellent support and with the Illuminations being turned on especially for us it is a special and unique race. The course is pretty much flat, there's plenty of space for everyone despite a field of over 1500 and it has PB potential written all over it. The medal is ace too. My family came to watch me run and they loved it, great atmosphere. I can highly recommend it and will be doing more FCR events in the future.

Sunny (for a change), warm and still.
Flat loop of a course a perfect pb possibility.
FCR are always friendly and well organized with great marshals this was no different.
Brilliant medal.

10k & 5k run both starting at the same place at the same point.
There is absolutely no problem finding a parking space in Blackpool, but for this run it would make sense to park around Gynn Square. Although transport is excellent with a tram stop more or less straight outside, with regular busses up & down the promenade.
The race itself started at the usual FCR starting point on the middle walkway just past the North Pier. Both races were a loop with the 5k veering off earlier & the 10k going up to Bispham station & coming back down the promenade path. The course could be good for PB's as it relatively flat.
As usual with FCR events the marshaling was excellent with a water station at 5k for the 10k. Also very good crowd support with some welcoming encouragement all along the route.
There was a finishers medal for all runners which was probably the biggest medal I have ever seen. Also more water & a banana for finishers. An excellent value run for 13/15 pound which I wouldn't hesitate to do again.
