First time running a Bideford ACC event but I'll certainly be back.
I'd never run a 10 miler before so wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed this. It was also my first time running as a member of Visor Club but even though I was guaranteed a PB the race still went better than expected.
We parked up on the street opposite Morrisons about a 5 minute walk from the race HQ in the club building. Number pick up was fast and easy. Portaloos outside had a bit of a queue but whilst warming up on the promenade I saw public toilets about 200m away from the portaloos.
Race start was straight forward and after a few hundred yards we u turned and headed along the promenade and then over the old bridge before starting the "out" section of this semi out and an back race.
The first 5 miles were on roads which weren't closed but I didn't have any issues as drivers were all very considerate. I was also in the leading 10% of the race so the field was reasonably spread out, but I gather from a friend further back that in the larger groups the roads were fine too.
There were 3 water stations on the route with bottled water. Seemed excessive but no complaints as better to have too much than not enough.
After the halfway point, the return "back" section was mainly on the Tarka Trail which is on an old railway track that is now a nice footpath. All in all it was a very pleasant route from start to finish.
The support in the last 1/2 mile was nice and loud with individual names being read out as people crossed the finish line which I think is always a nice touch.
Medal is very nice and the tech t shirt seems to be of high quality too.
So in summary this was a very well organised and enjoyable race and I would certainly recommend it.
